Alternative rock band Heaven For Real will drop their new studio album this November.
Revealed today, Who Died & Made You The Dream? is slated for a November 7 release via Mint Records. The 11-track album found the band using travel instruments in the studio with producer Austin Tufts (Braids, Marci) and mixer Jay Arner. The album features collaborations with a handful of Canadian musicians, including Jen Yakamovich (Wallgrin, Troll Dolly), Laura Jeffery (Laughing, Fountain), Olivia Scriven ( La Baie Dorée) and Mark Sutherland (Doohickey Cubicle).
A new single from the record titled “Hold Me Back” arrives with a music video directed by Jordan Minkoff. The director said this about the visual, which can be seen here:
“When Mark first played me the song “Hold Me Back”, I was like, woah, this is the best Heaven For Real song yet! I immediately asked him if I could do the video, and saw it as my chance to finally make something that wasn’t a goofy story video. I hoped to make something experimental and freaky that would complement the haunting and cinematic mood of the music. Anyways, somewhere along the line I went off track and now the song has a goofy story video. I guess once I thought of haunted hair being funny I couldn’t get it out of my head. Shout out to Bea, who did amazing camera work, and Matisse and Tara for their perfect acting skills. If you’re a fancy Hollywood producer, please consider funding our feature version of the music video that will have an hour and a half long version of the song!”
Heaven For Real said this about the song:
“Hold Me Back” is a super collaborative track about holding onto the feeling of letting go. Featuring Jen Yakamovich on drums and Olivia Scriven on second vocal, it’s the final stage of the three sounds we’re exploring on Who Died…, carrying the idea of trying to observe your own life as an outsider, and how that’s ultimately also like, a failure – one of the album’s guiding themes.”
