San Francisco post-punk band Octavian Winters have unveiled the music video for their single “Hermine” today.
The accompanying music video, which can be seen here, was directed by David Kruschke. Vocalist Ria Aursjoen said this about the single, which stems from the band’s forthcoming studio album:
“Hermine was wonderful to write and sing because it has a real no-holds-barred energy about it. I was also able to revisit some of my metal roots, in terms of vocal delivery, which was both fun and cathartic. The lyrics reference the novel Steppenwolf by Hesse, and explore the nature of the fragmented psyche and passionately urges the freedom of self acceptance.”
Drummer Randy Gzebb also said:
“It feels like the song is moving forward with unstoppable momentum. This is one of my favorite songs to play live”. Stephan Salit adds, “I started out writing this as an homage to Geordie Walker (R. I. P. ) but it took on a life of its own and well, here we are.”
Octavian Winters will perform at NYC’s A Murder of Crows Festival on August 30 alongside acts such as Vision Video, Ritual Howls, and Hallowed Hearts. On Halloween (October 31), the band will perform at Los Angeles’ Bar Sinister for the Ghostly Halloween Ball. Tickets can be purchased here.
