No Man’s Sky is really the gift that keeps on giving, as Hello Games continues to pump out huge updates that add major new features.
Just two months after the last major update and some teasing from Sean Murray, Version 6.0 of No Man’s Sky, titled Voyagers, launches today (via Eurogamer).
Among numerous other additions and fixes, Voyagers adds Corvettes, which are modular and highly customizable ships, similar to ship customization in Starfield, that can take and house multiple players as crew members.
This isn’t to be confused with Freighters, which are more like deep-space bases that have been in the game for a few years now.
Journeys Through Space Just Got Less Lonely
Not only are Corvettes highly customizable, with hundreds of modular components to mix and match to create your own unique build, but they can even be habitable if you add sleeping quarters, which can accommodate multiple other players so they can join your crew.
Different sets of parts have their own unified aesthetic, such as the 70s-style retro-futuristic look of the Ambassador-class modules or the more no-nonsense military style of the Titan-class parts.
The ships are big enough that you can get out of the cockpit and wander around the different rooms. You can also get out through the hatch into space for some EVA or to skydive down to a planet’s surface, and Corvettes are also faster for getting around than the standard single-seater ships.
To build your Corvette, you’ll need to head to a Corvette Workshop terminal in the Space Station once you unlock the feature or participate in a time-limited Expedition, which comes with its own unique cosmetic rewards and will be available for around six weeks.
It’s a huge update, and Hello Games released a deep dive video all about it if you want to know more.
No Man’s Sky’s recovery from its disastrous launch over the past 9 years has been nothing short of legendary, and Hello Games has only continued to put out more high-quality updates, which is even more incredible when you consider that they’re all free.
They’ve also got Light No Fire in the works now, but it still doesn’t seem to have slowed down their work on No Man’s Sky.
It’ll be interesting to see if Light No Fire, whenever it ends up releasing, can live up to the standard set by No Man’s Sky, but it seems like Corvettes are a testing ground for the seafaring vessels players will be able to use to traverse its oceans.
