As we near the end of September, rumours are firing up that there will be a PlayStation presentation next week, tying in with reports that Insomniac’s Wolverine game is going to be properly revealed by the end of the month.
The very reliable Nate the Hate replied to a user on X who asked if there would be a State of Play or Showcase this week, to which Nate the Hate replied: “Next week.”
Of course, this is not shocking news, as Sony typically hosts an event every September. Nate the Hate has remained cagey in the comments as to whether it will be a smaller State of Play, or a bigger Showcase, simply referring to it as a “presentation” in other replies. Although it’s possible Sony doesn’t actually differentiate these days.
This ties in with a recent report from the folks at Insider Gaming who claim that sources informed them Insomniac’s long-in-development Wolverine is ready to be shown. According to them, a trailer is ready to rumble, and is intended to be shown at a State of Play event at the end of this month. If it doesn’t appear there, the next likely date is the Game Awards show.
Even without that, there’s several other things PlayStation can show off. Ghost of Yotei is due to release on October 2nd (Hey! That’s my birthday!) so Sony has been ramping up the marketing for that. There’s also the rumoured 2.5D metroidvania God of War spin-off that keeps getting talked about. Then there’s potential for a Saros gameplay reveal, some more Marvel Tokon stuff and a better look at Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
Hell, they might even drop a tease for the Venom spinoff from Insomniac, which is still supposed to be in development.
