We’ve reached the end of the road in Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. The last and fourth chapter, called the Final Chapter, takes us to Grancel, the capital of Liberl.
There aren’t as many collectibles here as in the previous chapters, but as usual, they’re all missable. My suggestion is to start by grabbing all the chests in the open field, such as Kirsche Avenue and the Erbe Scenic Route, and then deal with the dungeon ones.
By now, you’re probably familiar with these walkthroughs. I’ll guide you to find all the missable collectibles, including cooking recipes and books.
Also, I’ll tell you the best choices to earn bonus BP. However, if you’ve been following along so far, you’ll probably hit Junior Bracer Rank 1 even if you miss a few here.
After exploring all the cities, indulging in a hot spring bath, and falling in love with Olivier, it’s time to conclude your journey in Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter alongside this Final Chapter walkthrough.
Air-Letten
Book – Carnelia Vol. 8
At the start of the Final Chapter, you’ll have to go to the landing port. Once your initial plans go south, the Zeiss region map will open up again.
Fast travel to Air-Letten and talk to the guard in the rest area to receive Carnelia Vol. 8.
Gurune Gate
Book – Carnelia Vol. 9
Once you reach the Grancel region, you can freely explore it before heading to the capital. So I suggest you do it! One of the places you can go is Gurune Gate, which connects Grancel to the Rolent region.
Enter the checkpoint, go to the second floor, and talk to a private to receive Carnelia Vol. 9.
Royal Capital Grancel
Recipe – Gorgeous Crepe
As soon as you enter Grancel, talk to Nonna on your right, who sells crepes, to buy a Gorgeous Crepe.
Recipes – Refreshing Pie / Mixed Cocktail / Hearty Bouillabaisse
At Sunnybell Inn, north of the Guild, you can buy three new recipes. Yet another alcoholic drink for our underage bracers.
Recipe – Special Ice Cream
In the East District, you can find Sorbet, a stall selling ice cream. Buy the Special Ice Cream from her.
Prepare a Special Ice Cream with Joshua to learn Brown Sugar Syrup Parfait, which looks way more delicious, by the way.
Book – Liberl News Issue 8
Still in the East District, there’s a large green building, the Edel Department Store. Go inside and talk to Lily in the northeast corner to buy Liberl News Issue 8.
Recipes – Concentrated Espresso / Artisan Rice Curry
Visit the Baral Coffee House in the West District block in Grancel to buy an espresso and some curry.
With Estelle, cook an Artisan Rice Curry and learn Hearty Baked Curry Doria in the process.

After lots of exploring and a shopping spree, it’s time to go to the Guild. As soon as you enter, a cutscene will play out.
During the talk with Elnan, a choice will pop up. You must pick “The letter of introduction won’t work?” to earn one extra BP.
Grancel Sewers
Recipe – Chewy Spare Ribs
On the second day of the tournament, you’re free to explore the Grancel Sewers in the West Block of the capital. Once you enter and go down the stairs, you’ll soon find a chest.
Inside it are the Chewy Spare Ribs. Not sure how sanitary that is, but most importantly, this is the last recipe. Once you cook it and its Peculiar Dish counterpart, you’ll earn two trophies.

When the game leads you to talk with Nial in the Liberl News office, you must read all the files presented. Then, a question will appear, to which your answer should be “Colonel Richard” for Bonus BP.
Soon after, you’ll return to the hotel under the cover of night and get the task of going to the cathedral. However, you can’t get caught by the patrolling soldiers. Same drill as in Leiston Fortress.
Pay attention to a soldier’s line of sight and you’ll be fine. You can even walk beside them as long as you stay out of their vision. I recommend save-scumming at every turn just to be safe.
But before you do that, let’s go off the beaten path.
Book – Carnelia Vol. 10
As you sneak through the capital at night toward the cathedral, you’ll have to pass through the East Block.
Before moving on, go to the Landing Port. There you’ll find Ralph on an airship deck. Talk to him to receive Carnelia Vol. 10. Now you can continue with the main story.
Okay, back to sneaking.
Once you reach the South District, things can get a bit hairy. You’ll have to go through the lower entrance, where three soldiers are stationed. They won’t move until you close in on them.
So, do that. Wait for the soldiers to come, and when they start going back to their posts, run past them. For sneaking your way to the cathedral, you’ll earn 5 bonus BP.
By the way, if you’ve completed every subquest and made all the correct choices so far, you’ll reach Bracer Rank 1 when you deliver the Royal Message main quest.
Book – Carnelia Vol. 11
After the Cathedral events and on the day of the final round, Anton in the East District will have a subevent marker.
He’ll give you a book, but first, you must wait a bit. The creep says he’ll hand over a book once a woman named Marsha passes by him three times.
You’ll notice it because his dialogue icon refreshes and a heart pops up above him. After the third time, Marsha will stop in her tracks just slightly away from him.
Speak to her and then talk to Anton to receive Carnelia Vol. 11, the last one. I suggest using high-speed mode.

By now, if you followed my walkthrough closely and did every subquest as it appeared, you’re already Rank 1.
However, there are still new opportunities to grab Bonus BP by giving the right answers. Why? Maybe as a second chance if you missed some bonuses earlier.
After the banquet, you’ll have to sweep the capital in search of your colleagues. Once you reach Liberl News, you’ll need to recap the conversation with Nial.
Answer with “He was called away by someone” and “About Princess Klaudia’s arranged marriage” to gain 4 bonus BP.
Ultimate Weapons – Taiji Staff and Dual Plovers
Want to grab Estelle and Joshua’s strongest weapons? Now’s the time. If you thought Carnelia books were only for improving Trails in the Sky’s world-building, you’re in for a treat.
Go to Baral Coffee House, right beside Liberl News, and talk to the owner. He’ll ask for every Carnelia edition you have. Hand them over, and he’ll reward you with the Taiji Staff and the Dual Plovers.
Not only do you now have the protagonists’ best weapons, but you’ll also earn a pristine trophy.

Book – Liberl News Issue 9
Go to Edel Department Store to purchase Liberl News Issue 9, the tournament special edition.
Once you proceed with the main story, you won’t be able to go back to the city and complete any more subquests. It’s to the sewers until the end, so be prepared.
Bonus BP – Save the Queen
After a rescue mission, a lot of planning, and sneaking, you’ll face some Special Ops soldiers accompanied by Duke Dunan.
To earn 2 Bonus BP, you must win the battle without knocking out Duke Dunan. Remember, you don’t need to do this if you’re already Bracer Rank 1. Also, I know you’re dying to smack that fool’s face.
However, if you’re aiming to complete the bestiary, you must at least stun the Duke to register him. I’m not sure whether he’ll count if you don’t stun or knock him out, so I suggest caution. My strategy was to spam Soul Blur since it deals minor damage and has a high stun ratio.
Right after Duke Dunan’s fight, you’ll face another battle where winning not only nets bonus BP but also a trophy: defeating Lorence.
Tips for Beating Lorence
Winning this fight is optional. If you lose, the story continues. But if you win, you’ll earn a silver trophy and bonus BP. A word of advice, though: the fight against Lorence in Trails in the Sky is considered one of the hardest, if not the hardest.
I’ll share some prep tips, but honestly, if you made it here without powering up along the way by grabbing all the chests, collecting rare Quartz, special accessories, and upgrading your gear, there’s not much you can do since there’s no backtracking.
Facing him on Normal difficulty or lower is very doable. On Hard and above, especially Nightmare, it gets tricky. Not only does he have way too much HP, but he also hits like a truck, likely one-shotting any of the girls.
Even so, I didn’t have much trouble with him, to the point where no one died in battle. Below you can check my party equipment and Orbment setup.
My go-to tips are:
- Keep buffs up at all times, such as Clock Up EX, Sylphen Wing, and Earth Wall.
- Use Morale with Estelle whenever possible to boost DEF and give CP Regen.
- If you have the Gladiator Belt accessory, equip it on Kloe. She needs CP to use her S-Craft Lichtkreis in emergencies.
- Estelle was my tank. She had the Sweet Aroma Quartz, which increased the chance of her being targeted, plus HP-boosting accessories.
- Scherazard was my primary buffer and EP restocker. You can also use her Heaven’s Kiss if you have extra CP, but I preferred Sadist Whip for a chance to Delay Lorence.
- With Kloe, I kept using either Arts, Sturm, or Weiss Aura for Foresight (also applied with Sylphen Wing). It all depended on turn order.
- Whenever possible, I attacked with the entire party, but Estelle was my main damage dealer with Barrage, Hard Break, and whenever possible, Burst.
Slow and steady wins the race. Keep the three wonder women in a triangular formation around Lorence to avoid his AoE Crafts. Avoid using basic attacks because he can counter and strip your Earth Wall. Always go for Crafts or Arts.
By beating Lorence, you’ll earn the silver trophy and three bonus BP. Now keep going until the end of the game.
When you reach the last dungeon, I recommend using the screenshots below because it’s a tad labyrinthine, and you can miss a few chests.
Remember, you can check the bottom-left corner of the open map to confirm if there are still unopened chests, and you’ll be fine.

Book – Liberl News Special Edition
Once all is said and done, you’ll enjoy some free time at the Queen’s Birthday Festival in the capital. Go to Edel Department Store and buy the Liberl News Special Edition.
If you collected every book correctly, you’ll earn a silver trophy for your dedication as a bookworm.
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter – Final Chapter Chest Locations
Grancel has only one open field, but two convoluted dungeons, the sewers, and the last one. They can be quite confusing, but I got you.
Kirsche Avenue / Erbe Scenic Route
These two maps are so interconnected that I decided to put only one screenshot. Also, the two undisclosed portions of the map don’t have chests and are only charted when progressing to the final dungeon.
Grancel Sewers – West Block
The entire Grancel Sewers will connect as you explore it, but I decided to separate them by visit order. First, you’ll go through the West Block.
Grancel Sewers – East Block
Later, you’ll gain access to the East Block. There’s a lever that connects West and East, uniting the maps.
Grancel Sewers – North Block
The North Block will only be accessible during the final offensive, before entering the last dungeon.
Sealed Area
This is Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter’s last dungeon. It’s pretty wild and a bit tricky to navigate, but you’ve got all the time in the world since you can’t leave it.
As always, check the bottom-left corner of the map to see if there’s a treasure icon still there. If so, scour the floor again.
