ARMA Reforger Single Player Campaign Revealed After Months Of Speculation

Since the initial release of ARMA Reforger back in 2022, the game has been a multiplayer-first affair. Bohemia has hosted servers with up to 128 players, and the game has followed its predecessors’ footsteps in fostering a vivid modding scene that has expanded its scope from World War 1 to modern-day conflicts.

All of that is great, of course, but it is no substitute for a bona fide single-player story. Two years after the game left early access, we are finally getting the first official ARMA Reforger campaign, set in the upcoming Kolgujev map.

The five-part campaign was revealed by content creators after a private playtest of ARMA Reforger update 1.6, and it tells the story of a secret American special forces raid on critical Soviet military infrastructure on the island.

In case you’re wondering, no, you won’t have to destroy the Shagohod and kill The Boss. This is Operation Omega, not Snake Eater.

A Wild Goose Chase

Bohemia Interactive has been tormenting its playerbase for months ahead of the next patch release. Spearheaded by agent Krzysztof ‘Klamacz’ Bielawski, the Czech-based counterintelligence apparatus has been leaving encrypted messages around.

Most of these refer to ARMA Reforger patch 1.5, which is already being tested in the game’s public experimental branch, but the embargo is up following an early patch 1.6 test involving content creators.

If you don’t want to get spoilers, then you might have to wait a long time to get your hands on the new single-player campaign.

Bohemia has yet to commit to a date for the release of ARMA Reforger 1.5, but the public consensus is that it should be coming in the next month or so. There is no public information about the 1.6 release date, but the developers have confirmed that it will contain one of the most anticipated features of 1.6.

Kolgujev Map Moved to Next Patch

Earlier this week, project lead ‘Klamacz’ explained on a Reddit thread that the new Kolgujev map would now be coming in update 1.6 instead of 1.5 as previously speculated.

The developer said this was more of a technicality, stating that in this case, the team felt it was better to “create a new branch” rather than “release the previous one on stable.” With that, the new branch that includes the Kolgujev map took up the 1.6 mantle.

Leaving nothing to the imagination, ‘Klamacz’ clarified that this “has nothing to do” with stability or any other possible issues involving ARMA Reforger 1.5, with the two upcoming patches being treated “as one major update but with multiple steps towards it.”

ARMA Reforger is currently out for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, and it holds the title of most realistic shooter available on consoles today.
