Those eager to have a bad time will have to look elsewhere, as the Undertale 10th anniversary website has a new fight with Sans, but it’s not like the one they remember.
The Sans fight at the end of the No Mercy Route is one of the best boss battles of all time, due to its sheer difficulty, how it messes with the game’s mechanics, and having arguably the most awesome song of all time, “MEGALOVANIA.” This one fight cemented Sans’ place in gaming history, and even resulted in him getting a character skin in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
2025 marks the 10th anniversary of Undertale’s release, and to celebrate, a website has been created that lets the player face Sans, as well as some new foes. Those who trained their hands to overcome Sans’ Gaster Blasters will have to learn a new set of skills, as this is a whole new fight.
Undertale 10th Anniversary Sans Is A Bit Different
The new Sans fight is more jokey than before, accompanied by a jazz rendition of “MEGALOVANIA.” This version of Sans isn’t the one trying to destroy Kris after they just wiped out most of the Underground: he’s just playing around.
It’s not just Sans that the player can face, as there is also new boss fights against foes called Mr. Sunshine and Aberrant. These are more conventional Undertale-style battles, with the player actually able to harm them and dodge their attacks.
The Sans fight is full of jokes and meta references, which we won’t spoil here. The Undertale/Deltarune fanbase has to wait long enough for new content, so it would be rude to deprive players of the joys of a new Sans fight.
It’s strange to think that Undertale is a decade old, especially as the fanbase is just as rabid and passionate as they were back in the day. This is a game that leaves a mark on people, and fans will still be just as excited for the 20th anniversary, especially if Sans dusts off his slippers for another rematch.
