Skate: Bench Sesh Challenge Guide (Hippy Jump Glitch)

As you might have gathered if you’ve played any amount of the new iteration of Skate, there is a wealth of bugs present in the game. Some fun, some irritating.

On the fun side of the equation, you’re able to stop free-falling by using a clapping emote. But, on the annoying side, you have glitches that can impede your ability to complete quests despite the fact that you’re nailing all the criteria.

One such quest that is somewhat bugged at this moment in time is the Market Mile challenge called Bench Sesh. This challenge has you seeking a high score, a certain grind distance, and some successful Hippy Jumps. However, the latter doesn’t behave as it should.

But don’t fret, as you can complete this quest consistently. You just need to do your hippy jumps in a rather specific way. Here’s how you can make it work.

How To Hippy Jump

First, in case you aren’t aware, to perform a hippy jump, simply push forward to start moving, then hold both push buttons and release them. This will have your skater jump upright with the board moving below them, and if you time it right, this can allow you to hop over certain assets while the board sails underneath.

To clarify. To Hippy Jumpon PlayStation, hold X and Square, then release. Then, on Xbox, hold A + B, then release. It’s very simple, and timing tends to be the only thing that can stop you from landing these clean.

How To Complete Bench Sesh

So, here’s the thing about this challenge. Doing a three-trick sequence is easy. Getting the grind distance is a breeze within the time limit provided, and wracking up a total score of 7,500 is very doable. The problem is that in most cases, the Hippy Jumps over the benches won’t register.

It’s rather strange, as in other challenges, these hippy jumps register consistently, even if you jump early or do so at breakneck speeds. But that isn’t the case here.

What you’ll want to do is roll up to the bench as slow as you possibly can. Fast enough that you can jump over, but slow enough that you just barely clear it. I found that hopping onto your board from a static position on the sloped platform nearby was the perfect amount of push needed.

If you do this, it should be close enough to the bench for the challenge to register, and then you just need to repeat one more time to complete the challenge.
