Just in time for Halloween, Obsidian Entertainment has released the first major content update for Grounded 2 that will turn the game into a complete horror experience — and I know you get exactly what I’m talking about.
The “Hairy and Scary Update” is already live and has just added a challenging, new nightmare with eight legs, a lot of hair, and razor-sharp fangs in Brookhollow Park: AXL, the Colossal Tarantula.
It is a brand-new boss that grants the players a full suite of tarantula-themed rewards when defeated, such as the Tarantula Armor set, a Tarantula Bow, a Tarantula Spear, and some spooky style to your base with chests, candles, and a candlelit throne.
However, defeating it is not going to be that easy – I mean, the developers are even calling it a “towering terror” – so it is better for you to gear up properly and even call on some friends! You can take a look at the huge spider and all its rewards in the video below.
Patch Notes For Hairy and Scary 0.2 Update
Alongside the tarantula boss, the “Hairy and Scary Update” also added some other features and bug corrections to Grounded 2.
The biggest ones are the new BUILD.M, which makes grand designs easier by adding a much more intuitive system for placing and perfecting your creations, and the Hot Pouch support that can be integrated into the Buggy, meaning that you don’t need to leave the driver’s seat anymore to scan, swap, and stock up. Interestingly, the latter was a community request, so it is nice to see that the developers are hearing from us!
Also, players can finally welcome more people from Japan and Brazil to the game, since localizations in Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese are finally here. I personally loved this one since I’m Brazilian myself.
Plus, as a Halloween fan, other highlights are the Praying Mantis armor set, a Trick-or-Treatery Building, new spooky ambiance, and how Candy Corn is now replacing some resources in the world – all of these are temporary and exclusive to October, but it is nice in the same way.
Now, entering bugs’ territory (pun intended, of course), a bunch of corrections are live, such as fixing sound effects, UI elements, camera, illumination, respawning problems, and even handheld improvements.
You can check the full patch notes on the game’s official website. However, it is quite lengthy, so you may want to grab a coffee before reading it all.
Oh, and Obsidian also confirmed that this is only the beginning of Grounded 2’s special content in October, and they have more festive frights to reveal in the future.
Grounded 2 is available in Game Preview for Xbox Series X|S and Early Access for Steam. It is also included in the Xbox Game Pass catalogue.
