In Sonic Racing Crossworlds, you can pick out a character, vehicle front, back, and tires, and you’re able to mix and match them all within all five categories of vehicle types, unlike a certain other kart racer.
This means you have hundreds of different combos you could use, all with their big list of stats, and their own pros and cons that make them all unique and worth trying out to see which one fits your play style.
With that in mind, I’ve compiled eight combinations that I really like, based on my own experience and on the Time Trial and Online leaderboards, to give you a good selection of what is best to use.
It should be noted that every combination of parts is uniquely viable in this game, due to the large number of modes where different vehicle types can excel over others, so feel free to experiment and use this as some inspiration.
8 Beast Runner
Quick Recovery
If you’ve played online and hated constantly being mowed over by items, this build is for you. This absolute tank uses the Werehog’s Beast Spike as the front, but if you don’t have that, you can substitute it for the Knight Tank for a similar effect.
Combining that with the back of the Trail Runner, and with the tires of the Knight Tank, and of course, using Hatsune Miku as she’s currently the only Boost type character, you get a damn good stats spread.
Average Speed and Acceleration guarantee you can get up to a pretty competitive top speed rather quickly, and the Power and Boost stats are where this thing shines, letting you get hit and get right back up.
If you keep a boost wisp on you, you can take a big hit, pop the item, and be back up to top speed in a couple of seconds as if nothing even happened. Using this build makes online way less frustrating, guaranteed.
7 TYPE-J Iota
Blast Through
While the TYPE-J Iota is just a standard hoverboard, it’s one of the best in terms of stats spread, and combining it with a Power-type character can cover its weaknesses really well.
Every stat hovers at around 40, with the Boost stat at a staggering 76, making it still feel really nice in terms of Handling and Acceleration, has a decent top speed, and makes you resistant to death.
It’s not the best at any of these things, sure, but if you want an Extreme Gear to be a jack-of-all-trades, this is the way to go. You still need to chain boosts together, but it’s still decent if you’re far away from a dash panel.
If you can manage to keep wisps on you, get on a track like Radical Highway with a ton of dash panels, and constantly keep drifting to boost like hell, you’ve practically already won.
6 Radical Scorpion
Speeding By
I know some of you wish to do one thing, and one thing only. Go fast and win. This one helps you do that quite a bit more consistently than the usual. With the body and wheels of the Radical Fours and the back of the Hyper Scorpion, you can do just that.
This thing has really great Speed and Acceleration, half-decent handling, and a Power stat that makes you stay on the track like a force to be reckoned with. That Boost stat is a bit of an issue, though.
It means you aren’t going to benefit too much from Dash Panels and Wisps, so going for a drift-focused setup or a max-speed setup here can benefit you greatly to make up for that one downside.
Riding in this thing feels great, like you have absolutely nothing to be worried about on the track. Of course, anything too technical or boost-heavy will have you most likely folding, but that isn’t most tracks, regardless.
5 Dark Chariot
Riveting Speed
By using Blaze for her lovely stat spread and high Boost and Speed stats, using the Dark Reaper’s front, and using the Royal Chariot’s back and tires, you make a machine that’s an absolute beast for any high-speed focused build.
It’s great for time trials on tracks with a bunch of straightaways, the Boost stat is decent for a car, and the Handling and Power will make it pretty easy to swerve out of danger and recover if need be.
That said, the low acceleration does mean that getting up to speed can be a little tricky, so it’s best used outside of Online. You absolutely can run this against other players, but don’t expect to be going fast very often.
If you want an easy but suboptimal answer to most Time Trials, especially those that aren’t easy with a handling car, then this is the build for you. It’s also quite nice against CPUs, and if you can imagine, lovely when used with Super Sonic.
4 Knight Tank
Bagger’s Delight
The Knight Tank is just a default Power car you get from the Race Park, but it’s a really damn good one, especially when used in combination with a Power-type character for maximum effectiveness.
This makes items feel like a little speed bump, especially with a pretty great Boost and Speed stat. Using this with a gadget setup focused on getting more items, you’re practically guaranteed a high spot on the third lap.
Bagging isn’t usually the best strategy in this game, as is evident by most top players using frontrunning setups, but if you can pull it off, you can absolutely take the race with a well-timed Drill Wisp.
The only issue is the low Acceleration and very low Handling, which generally means you can’t take turns super tight or get up to speed that fast, but when you’re going full speed on a straightaway, you’re unstoppable.
3 Pink Hatch
Drifting In The Ocean
One thing that Handling cars usually aren’t great for is their Speed stat, but using a Speed character with the Pink Cabriolet front, the Hot Hatch back, and the Lip Spyder tires, you’ll have a damn nice build on your hands.
This thing is the absolute best at mixing a drifting-focused build with some pretty decent top speed, meaning you can counter-drift up to whatever level you want and get right back into the mix in seconds.
The Boost stat helps a ton with this, making your wisps and dash pads much more effective, alongside the ability to counter-drift like mad, and the Acceleration makes recovering way smoother.
It’s overall pretty damn good, and though it’s a far more skill-based playstyle than most others, once you learn to maximize the hell out of it, you’ll be speeding by everyone else on the track.
2 Blue Booster
Balanced Boosting
With a Speed type character, Wispon Booster back, and Blue Star front, you can create a board that will rarely fail you. It gets back up just a bit better than other boards, but boosts just as good as the rest.
In particular, the Speed and Handling on this thing make it feel incredibly practical for just about any race, given it still has the drawback that any boost-type vehicle does, where it relies on getting Boost to win.
This means you constantly drift, hit every dash panel, and use your wisps as much as you can. The Wispon Booster parts, in general, are great, and are a stark reminder that they need to add Whisper the Wolf to this game.
With constant drifting and careful item usage, you go from fumbling on the board to ripping up the track in minutes, and it feels incredible. It won’t be saving you from items, but the rush of the wind is worth the punishment.
1 Hot Hatch
Tightest Turns
Using a handling-type character, grabbing the front and back of the Hot Hatch, and the wheels of the Pink Cabriolet, you’ve made a vehicle that can do everything except keep an outstanding top speed consistently.
The Handling is immaculate, letting you take turns tighter than you ever thought possible. The Power is decent enough to make items less of an issue, the Boost stat is pretty damn good, and that Acceleration is really nice.
Really, if you’re planning on taking people to more technical tracks or enjoy chaining items together, this one is absolutely viable, and with the right gadget setup, you can absolutely make it the best combo in the game.
This does make it pretty good for time trialing certain tracks, and good for online if you can get really consistently good at using counter-drift and taking advantage of constant boosts.
