The Sims Mobile is being sunset early next year, EA announced over the weekend. Though EA says the game will continue to receive updates through January, it’s being delisted from the App Store and Google Play Store as of Oct. 21st, and will officially shut down on Jan. 20.
Despite the impending shutdown (after which players will not be able to access the game at all), EA still has a whole host of seasonal content planned for the game’s final months, including the Eerie Autumn Festival and Cozier Home Sweet Treat Showdown, both of which are now live. EA has also confirmed that any unspent premium currency will disappear once the game’s servers are shut down in January, and no refunds will be available.
“All purchases you’ve made before October 20 will still work in-game right up until January 20, 2026,” reads a blog post announcing the news. “After that date, The Sims Mobile will no longer be playable, and any leftover currency will not be eligible for a refund.”
EA is, however, giving players one final treat when the new year arrives: On Jan. 6, all items in Build Mode and Create-A-Sim (CAS) will be automatically unlocked, allowing players to experiment to their hearts’ content until the game goes offline on Jan. 20.
“We want to give everyone the opportunity to build their dream home, design their perfect Sims, and experience everything TSM has to offer before the servers close,” EA says.
Not to be confused with The Sims FreePlay (another mobile Sims game which appears to still be going strong), The Sims Mobile first launched in March 2018, and focuses more on customizing and controlling a singular Sim family, as opposed to managing multiple households the way players can in The Sims FreePlay. EA hasn’t announced any plans to take The Sims FreePlay offline, so fans of mobile Sims games will still have an outlet for their creativity even after The Sims Mobile is gone.
