Pokémon Go’s yearly Halloween event for 2025 has started, with the first half of this two-part event running from Oct. 21-27. During this portion, shiny Sinistea will be added to the game, alongside Poltchageist, it’s matcha-based cousin.
The biggest part of this event is the Halloween Go Pass, which runs until Nov. 2. Through the pass, you’ll unlock encounters with a ton of costumed Pokémon, as well as an encounter with Rotom. If you buy the deluxe version of the pass for $7.99, you’ll get more encounters, premium items, and a Teatime cosmetic trainer pose. As you rank up in the free pass, you’ll also unlock more perks, like doubled catch candy, increased chances to get XL candy, and doubled transfer candy. For people who buy the premium version, these bonuses are tripled instead of doubled.

Spinning a PokéStop during the event period may yield one of these tasks:
- Catch 10 ghost- or dark-type Pokémon (Yamask, Litwick, or Pumpkaboo encounter)
- Evolve 3 dark-type Pokémon (Zorua or Vullaby encounter)
- Evolve 3 ghost-type Pokémon (Sableye or Hisuian Zorua encounter)
- Power up Pokémon 10 times (25 Gengar, Houndoom, Sableye, Banette, or Absol Mega Energy)
- Win 3 raids (Spiritomb encounter)
