It’s no cryptic secret that Tormented Souls 2 absolutely loves its puzzles, with plenty to keep you busy in every area of the game. While some are relatively simple to get through, others will require getting your steps in, mentally and physically. A survival horror expert like Caroline should be a genius at these by now.
One such puzzle that is by far one of the busiest in the first half of the game is the Chained Man puzzle found in the depths of the Mall. If you find yourself at a loss of what to do, here’s how to complete the Chained Man puzzle in Tormented Souls 2.
How to Find Chained Man Puzzle in Tormented Souls 2
The Chained Man Puzzle is located in the Mall section of Tormented Souls 2, after you first leave the Convent section and reach the main town area. Make sure you resolve and unlock everything you need to in the Convent before this, such as getting the missable Shotgun weapon. Once you’ve gained access to the mall’s interior, you’ll need to make your way down to the basement level of the building.
The chained man himself, or rather the gruesome display he’s fixed to, is pretty hard to miss once you’re close by. His exact location (per the map shown above) is the walkway directly to the right of the Video Rental Store on the right side of the lower level.
How to Complete Chained Man Puzzle in Tormented Souls 2
The difficulty behind this particular puzzle lies in the amount of running around you have to do first in order to complete it. In other words, this should be the last puzzle you complete in the Mall section before moving on, as doing so will grant you access to the next section (the Processing Plant).
So, you first need to get access to the “dojo” gym shop on the second floor of the mall. The Dojo Key that unlocks it comes from the Pharmacy Fridge puzzle on the first floor. Once you have that key, go inside the dojo gym and head for the bathroom area in the back.
On the tile floor in the center of a drawn circle is the Box Cutter. Take that, and you can use it to cut the duct tape off the ringing pay phone outside on the street.
After listening to the call, take the Coins from the dispenser at the bottom. Go back inside Mall and make your way to the Amusement Arcade on the basement level of the building. Inside there, you’ll find a lit up claw machine full of teddy bears.
Use your Coins on this claw machine, which will allow you to play a round. Use the arrow keys and red button on the machine to maneuver the claw to the teddy bear on the far right side of the machine, specifically the one that’s missing an eye. Use the pink light from the claw mechanism to position it over the plush toy and pick it up.
Once you have the teddy bear, use your Box Cutter on it. Inside the torso you’ll find the Gold Ring, which you need for the Chained Man. With that in hand, head back to the Chained Man’s location, which is conveniently close to the arcade.
Once there, interact with the undead man. You’ll need to place the Gold Ring on one of the fingers on his left hand (the lower one, as seen above). After doing so, the chained man will look at his hand before the entire chained display suddenly disintigrates, revealing a new path and door behind it.
The door in question leads you onward to the Processing Plant, the next major section of the story. Make sure you’ve wrapped up everything you want to do in the Mall and the surrounding town area before heading through.
