In 2001, Microsoft released the Xbox with the groundbreaking exclusive launch title Halo: Combat Evolved and, 25 years later in 2026, Halo Studios will redefine Master Chief’s first journey with Halo: Campaign Evolved.
A built from the ground up remake of Halo: Combat Evolved using Unreal Engine 5, Halo: Campaign Evolved is the first official game developed by Halo Studios following its rebranding from 343 Industries.
Not only is Campaign Evolved a remake of Combat Evolved, but it will also be the first ever Halo game to be playable on PlayStation platforms as CE will be debuting on Xbox platforms, Steam, and PlayStation 5 simultaneously.
This follows Xbox President Sarah Bond’s perspective of console-exclusive games being “antiquated” and Xbox slowly porting its previously Xbox-exclusive franchises to PlayStation 5 as seen with Gears of War: Reloaded and Sea of Thieves, among others.
Remaking Halo: Combat Evolved
Rumors of a Halo: Combat Evolved remake being the next mainline Halo game have persisted for over a year now, ever since Halo Studios showed off a recreation of Master Chief in his iconic Mark V armor during the Project Foundry reveal at the 2024 Halo World Championship.
Those rumors were seemingly proven true when Halo Studios officially revealed the Halo: CE remake as Halo: Campaign Evolved at the 2025 Halo World Championship.
According to Campaign Evolved‘s Steam page, the game is a “faithful yet modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolved‘s campaign,” which confirms the rumors that the next Halo game would not feature traditional PvP multiplayer.
However, Campaign Evolved will feature four-player online co-op but only two-player local co-op, which is a slight improvement from Combat Evolved‘s original two-player local campaign co-op.
In terms of other new features fans can expect to see in this remake, Campaign Evolved will feature:
- Three brand-new prequel missions featuring the Master Chief and Sgt. Avery Johnson
- An expanded arsenal of weapons and vehicles
- Full crossplay and cross-progression support across all platforms
- New enemies such as the Flood Tank form which first appeared in Halo 3
- A fourth seat added to the bumper of the Warthog
- Dozens of Skulls instead of the mere 14 that appeared in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
- Usable Energy Swords, which originally became disabled when Elite Zealots died in CE
- New Covenant armor designs for Grunts and Elites resembling those seen in Halo Infinite
- New mechanics and AI behavior
On top of these new features, Halo Studios strived to maintain Halo: Combat Evolved‘s core elements by remastering and remixing Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori’s iconic 2001 soundtrack and bringing back the core principal cast, including Steve Downes and Jen Taylor, to rerecord all of their original lines on top of new ones.
- Security Camera Installation – indoor/outdoor IP CCTV systems & video analytics
- Access Control Installation – key card, fob, biometric & cloud‑based door entry
- Business Security Systems – integrated alarms, surveillance & access control
- Structured Cabling Services – voice, data & fiber infrastructure for new or existing builds
- Video Monitoring Services – 24/7 remote surveillance and analytics monitoring
