A new Dragon Quest VII Reimagined trailer showed up during the State of Play Japan 2025 showcase, and it showed a new version of the returning hero Kiefer. He’s an ally of the party in the game, and this time it seems both the young version we meet at the outset and an older version of him will fight at our side.
The full trailer for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined only brings up the new Kiefer section at the 45 second mark. The hero, Maribel, and Ruff come upon an older gentleman tied up to a post. He then recognizes the party. We learn this is then a different version of Kiefer that they’ve run into on their travels. Once freed, it seems like we’ll get a chance to fight alongside him again.
