Sony will attempt to get PS5 sales moving in its domestic Japan with a new cheaper language locked model.
The system will only work with Japanese PSN accounts and will only support Japanese as a language. It will include 825GB of storage space.
The new-gen PlayStation console has been struggling against Nintendo’s family of Switch systems domestically, but the new model – which will launch on 21st November – is a move copied straight from its rival’s playbook.
The system will cost ¥55,000 (~$350), which is a significant reduction on the ¥72,980 (~$473) the Digital Edition currently retails for.
Pre-orders for the Digital Edition Japan console will begin on 13th November, and Sony will be hoping it’s enough to significantly increase hardware sales in the region, after a spate of price increases in recent years.
