Brooklyn dream pop band Endearments have signed to Trash Casual.
Announced yesterday, the band will deliver their debut album on the label next year. For the release, the band will be working with producer Abe Seiferth (Nation of Language, Yeasayer).
Trash Casual founder AJ Tobey said this about signing the band:
“Ever since I first heard Endearments and saw them live a couple years ago, I’ve been fascinated by how they draw an influence from bands I love, but still find a way to set themselves apart from most other bands coming out of NYC right now. I’m stoked to be teaming up with them for this next chapter of theirs.”
To celebrate the announcement, Endearments have unveiled their new single “Cannon.” The song comes with a music video directed by Gabriel Stanley, which can be seen here.
Vocalist Kevin Marksson said this about the song and visual:
“‘Cannon’ is a song about apathy and addiction. It’s about living in a world where we see atrocities unfolding before our eyes, yet choose to willfully ignore or self-medicate because the pain we are witnessing is so overwhelming. I knew we needed to keep the music video simple and focused on lyrics and movement. Even though I’m not a trained dancer, we worked with an amazing choreographer, Camilia Araque, who really helped me step out of my comfort zone and throw myself into the experience and emotion of the song.”
