A new trademark for what seems to be a new game in Remedy’s Control and Alan Wake universe has fans hoping for a reveal at the upcoming Game Awards.
MP1ST spotted a trademark for CONTROL: Resonant had been filed in Europe under the videogames service, misc products and TV/movies. This means it could be the sequel to Control which we Remedy themselves has confirmed to have entered full development at the start of this year, or it could even be something to do with the Annapurna led project to adapt Control to both the big and small screen, along with Alan Wake.
The filing also looks legit, as it has been done by Nordia Attorneys at Law, the same company that has filed previous trademarks for Remedy.
The Game Awards are due to kick off in just a few weeks and Remedy has a history of appearing at the show, announcing Alan Wake 2 and frequently popping up to deliver new trailers, updates and more. So the big question is whether it’s a bit early to show Control 2 since it only just entered development. Would Remedy want to show it off yet? Or perhaps just deliver a small teaser? Or maybe, it’s the Annapurna-led TV or movie that’s going to pop up? Or it could be something wholly new.
Remedy could certainly do with a win right now. Just last month Remedy admitted that FBC: Firebreak – a multiplayer game set in the Control universe – had lost them €14.9 million. A week later, the CEO stepped down. Before that, Alan Wake 2 took it’s sweet time getting to their point where it was generating actual profit. All in all, the company isn’t in the strongest place.
