Halloween Game Reveals Its Terrifying Map

Halloween Game Reveals Its Terrifying Map

I have to confess that when Friday the 13th: The Game shut down its servers, I was really, really sad because I have a soft spot for asymmetric horror games, especially those inspired by iconic franchises that we all know and love.

That’s why, when I heard that the same developer, IllFonic, is bringing Halloween to life in basically the same way, it instantly became one of my most anticipated horror titles for 2026 – and my hype has just reached a new level by knowing that it will feature a very nostalgic setting.

Haddonfield Heights Is Your New Nightmare (Again)

During the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted event this week, IllFonic has revealed the very first map for the game – and yes, it is exactly where you want this nightmare to begin: the cozy Haddonfield neighborhood.

Titled “Haddonfield Heights”, the in-game map is going to present a sandbox structure, with a bunch of small houses and gardens to explore and hide from Michael Myers. Oh, you can also expect the iconic water tower, of course!

Halloween Game To Resolve Burning Series Questions In Its Story Mode

Illfonic’s upcoming 2026 Halloween Game will answer long-running questions and plot holes from the 1978 film in its story mode.

And, according to Jordan Mathewson, the design director at IllFonic, it is directly inspired by the neighborhood from the original Halloween, from 1978. “This neighborhood allowed us to reimage the tension of Haddonfield in a way that feels both intimate and terrifying”, explained Mathewson.

[…] it is exactly where you want this nightmare to begin: the cozy Haddonfield neighborhood.

“We wanted players to feel the comfort of the neighborhood they recognize from the film right before we turn it into panic. Every hedge, hallway, and backyard was built to heighten suspense and reward clever play, whether you’re hunting or being hunted”.

You can check a short yet spine-chilling sneak peek right below:

Halloween promises to deliver a relentless game of “cat-and-mouse”, where some players play as desperate civilians who need to escape the map to survive, while another person steps into the role of the notorious Michael Myers himself and needs to find and kill everyone.

Halloween is set to launch just in time for next year’s Halloween, on September 8, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).
