How To Buy A House In World of Warcraft

With World of Warcraft’s newest update, Patch 11.2.7, player housing has finally made its way into the game.

Only took 21 years, but who’s counting?

While Housing is one of the biggest selling points of the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Midnight, those who have pre-ordered the game can enjoy early access to player housing starting today.

World of Warcraft Hasn’t Moved On — But Its Players Have

The legendary fantasy MMO could be on its last legs

Naturally, the first question on everyone’s mind as they log in is “How do I buy my house in WoW?” Don’t worry, dear reader, because we have the answer.

As always, please make sure your addons are properly updated; otherwise, you’re going to log in to some addons that may not be functioning properly.

Getting The Quest To Buy A House In World of Warcraft

First things first, you’re going to be welcomed with a “What’s New” screen, detailing everything that’s brand new with WoW Patch 11.2.7. One of these things is indeed the addition of Housing, and you should already have the quest “A House For You” in your quest log.

In order to obtain your house, you need to make your capital city’s portal room. You’ll want to look for the portal to Founder’s Point. Enter the portal, and it’s time to begin the Housing quest chain in earnest.

You’ll be able to fly down to the center of town, where you’ll greet the steward. She’ll welcome you to the neighborhood and give you a couple of options when you talk to her, including continuing the quest. Select “Let’s have a look around,” and you’ll begin to take a look at the available plots of land for your house.

The quest has an optional goal of exploring six different plots, which showcase the different areas you can buy your plot of land in, but you can bypass that if you so choose.

World Of Warcraft: 10 Hardest Raid Bosses, Ranked

Each Raid Boss in World Of Warcraft presents a challenge, but these are surely some of the hardest ones the players have encountered.

If your desired plot of land isn’t available, you can talk to the steward and select “I want to see other neighborhood options,” and then select the “House Finder.” At the time of writing, it is, unsurprisingly, very laggy.

Don’t worry if you’re not able to live next to your friends; you’ll be able to move your house in World of Warcraft for free, so you and your friends will be able to live in the same neighborhood.

Once you find a plot of land you like, click on the cornerstone to purchase it. Your first house will be 1,000 gold, but the fee is waived for new players. For what it’s worth, I am not a newer player; my account has been active since 2005, but the fee was still waived for me, possibly because I haven’t played too much War Within since Season 1. Your mileage may vary on this, but either way, 1,000 gold is pretty cheap relative to the WoW economy. You should have no trouble affording your first home.

Congratulations, you’re now a homeowner in World of Warcraft! Once you take those first steps inside, you’ll be greeted with a prompt to explore the housing tutorial, which goes over how you can customize and decorate your brand-new home.
