With the latest Path of Exile II patch comes a bunch of new skills, mechanics, and a whole new character. Of course, with a huge shake-up like this, new builds will rise, and older builds will fall. But such is the way of things. So if you want to stay on top of things, you’d best pay attention.
As Grinding Gear Games progresses toward its goal of having a more combo-focused game, rather than blasting screens with a single button, this patch is perhaps the most combo-based one we’ve had yet.
Path Of Exile 2: Druid Build Guide
Bow before the Frozen Fiend!
And yet, unlike before, it is working well this time. Whichever Druid build you want to play, you’re going to have to use quite a few pieces to make it work. So let’s take a look at the builds that are crushing the league so far, and perhaps give you a bit of inspiration for your newest character!
ED/C Lich
Spreading Death and Decay
I want to start this off with the classic Essence Drain/Contagion Witch Build. This has always been popular and always will be due to how simple it is and how effectively it scales as you climb higher and higher.
Not only can you use this build as a super simple league starter, but it also scales up into maps, too. If you’ve never played it before, this build relies on spreading contagion to a bunch of mobs while using essence drain for safe, constant damage.
Whack out a Dark Effigy and apply some curses with Blasphemy, and you’ll be good to go! Simple and solid, you can’t go wrong.
Entangle Druid
A Spot of Light Gardening
I was pretty sceptical when I heard about this build, having tried and failed to use some of the plant-based skills myself. However, when I saw it in action, I had to give it a spot.
This build revolves around the use of the Entangle skill, which roots enemies and deals a significant amount of damage. We use Cast on Critical, socketed with Thunderstorm, which boosts and causes our plants to become overgrown. Finally, you have Thrashing Vines for anything that you can’t simply remove with Entangle.
And all this really needs to come online is a solid Reaping staff with good physical modifiers and the Oracle Ascendancy with Forced Outcome to guarantee Crits. Not only is this cheap, but you’ll have a blast too. The power of nature is now yours to control.
Flicker Strike Invoker
Faster than Lightning
Invoker has always been a pretty awesome Ascendancy, right from 0.1 with its Ice Strike Screen Clearing goodness. And, happy days, it’s here to stay.
With this build, we want to build as many Power Charges as possible. So to do this, it’s best to use something like Whirlwing Assault. This can be boosted with Charged Staff for extra lightning damage, and then Cast on Critical with Profane Ritual to build even more Power Charges.
Once you gain enough charges, unleash your Flicker Strike to burst across the screen, clearing everything in sight. It’s an extremely satisfying skill to use. Unfortunately, it just takes a good amount of set-up before it comes online.
Elemental Wyvern
Take To The Skies!
While it seems like the Wolf and the Bear have taken most of the spotlight in terms of animal transformations, the Wyvern can still be a powerhouse when used correctly.
One of the most effective builds right now revolves around the use of Devour to build a good amount of Power charges, Rend to cleave your enemies while building extra lightning damage, and then Flame Breath to melt everything before you. Interestingly enough, even while levelling, you can use skills like Oil Barrage to delete bosses where other builds might struggle.
Path of Exile 2: 6 Best Early Game Builds
For those struggling to pick a Class in Path of Exile II, this list covers a selection of great early-game builds to get you started!
It’s a surprisingly simple build that relies on solid Rage generation and power charges to fuel your skills. Pair this with a good amount of armour and the Shaman Ascendancy, and you’ll be nigh unkillable.
Burning Meteor Bear
The Earth Trembles
There’s a reason this is one of the most popular builds right now. Not only is the bear a ridiculously good transformation, but it also looks and feels incredible to play!
Similar to the other transformation builds, this one is going to revolve heavily around the final sets of skill gems unlocked. Here we have Walking Calamity. And yeah, it’s as powerful as it sounds.
First off, use Rampage to charge around, stomping your enemies to death. And then once you’ve built up enough glory, activate Walking Calamity to fill the screen with fire, and burn everything around you to the ground. Naturally, pair this with Herald of Ash, and nothing will stand in your way.
Frost Wolf Shredder
Blood Runs Cold in Their Veins
And finally, we come to our 3rd and final transformation: the Wolf! If you’re anything like me and enjoy freezing your opponents and dealing disgusting amounts of burst damage, then you’re going to love this guy!
However, if you dislike combo gameplay, this one might not be for you. The main skill rotation here revolves around a few core pieces. First off, Pounce on your enemy, inflicting them with a Freezing Mark. Use Lunar Assault to freeze them. Shred them with your main skill and then use Cross Slash to burst the shredded Ice Fragments and deal insane damage.
It sounds like a lot, but you’d be surprised by how easy it is to master. Pair this with Lunar Blessing and Savage Fury for bonus attack speed and extra damage shining down from the heavens.
Temporalis Oracle
For When Money Is No Issue
Temporalis has always been a pretty broken item; that’s nothing new. There’s something about speeding skills up that ends up making them super powerful. Surprise surprise, I know…
But this really turns it up to another level. By using Choir of the Storms with its in-built skill, and then equipping Mana Flare, we can get it to cast Lightning Bolts, which always Crit thanks to our Ascendancy, which loops with itself, causing it to constantly activate and totally decimate bosses.
Honestly, I’m not quite sure how this really works. It goes way past my understanding of PoE2, but the result is stunning to behold. However, these items are ridiculously expensive, so don’t even bother with this one unless you have divines spilling out of your pockets.
Poison Burst Pathfinder
Plague Spreader, World Ender
Poison builds have always struggled to find their places in the constantly competitive field of endgame builds in Path of Exile 2. However, the buffs given to Pathfinder this league have just given it enough room to properly shine.
While this may not be the absolutely most powerful build, I have to give it credit for just how simple it is to use and how cheap it is in the grand scheme of things.
This revolves around Poison Burst Arrow, Herald of Blood, and Herald of Plague to spread poison and explode your enemies into a shower of blood. In terms of bossing, it’s as simple as using a bunch of Toxic Growths and then constantly triggering them all with a Gas Arrow on the ground.
All you need here is a good bow with high Physical Attack modifiers, a solid quiver, and the Plaguefinger Gloves to get this build online. Everything else is just fluff to help you survive longer. It’s super satisfying and will definitely scratch that screen-blasting itch that I know you have!
