Daily game giveaways are fun and all, but much like your chocolate advent calendar is empty, so is the Epic Games Store holiday streak. However, that doesn’t mean the free games have stopped coming to the storefront.
To start the year right, the Epic Games Store has dropped two great games for free. You can claim them to keep forever until January 8th at 16:00 GMT, and all you need for that is an account on the EGS.
The first two free games of 2026 are Total War: Three Kingdoms and Wildgate. Giveaways can’t please everyone, but these two titles are so different that they at least cover wildly different demographics.
A Trip to Ancient China
Few regions have had such a turbulent political history as China, and things were particularly busy early in the first millennium. Naturally, that makes it the perfect setting for a Total War game.
Total War: Three Kingdoms drops you off in the year 190 AD, during the collapse of the Han dynasty. The game lets you choose one of twelve warlords inspired by the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel.

To claim the games, download the Epic Games launcher, create an account, then scroll down to the Free Games section. Titles currently available will have “FREE NOW” written in their thumbnail.
Click to open the game’s store page, click “Get”, and then “Place Order”. You will then be able to select the game from the Library tab to install it.
