The week ends on a sour note for the video game industry, which is facing further layoffs. Warner Bros. Games has taken action, while its parent company is set to complete its acquisition by Netflix in the coming weeks.
WB Games has cut an unknown number of jobs at its San Francisco-based studios. Senior executives have been affected. An art director who worked for the company for over ten years has also been let go. He announced the news earlier this week on LinkedIn.
“It’s been a helluva ride but all good things must come to an end! Just wrapped up my time at WB Games San Francisco last month- unfortunately hit by, you guessed it, layoffs. Super appreciative and proud of everything we accomplished at the studio in the last 11 years.”*
Warner Bros. Games San Francisco specializes in creating mobile games such as Westworld, DC Worlds Collide, and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.
