Certain useful recipes in Hytale call for a Softwood Trunk as one of the materials. The problem is, there actually is no such item in the game at all!

Instead, Softwood Trunk is a category of items. It refers to the Logs you get from chopping down specific trees, such as aspens! We don’t blame you if this tripped you up, because it’s definitely a bit confusing.

In this guide, we’ll tell you what to look for to get the so-called Softwood Trunks and where to get them.

Where to Find Softwood Trunk in Hytale

The best and easiest way to get Softwood Trunks early in Hytale is to get Aspen Logs. You can obtain these by looking for areas with yellow trees, such as the one shown on the map above.

Once you reach one of these areas, look for the discolored trees with golden and orange leaves. Then, chop those down to obtain Aspen Logs, which count as the Softwood Trunks you’re looking for!

What makes this the best method is simply how easy it is to get. Aspens are very common trees in this game, particularly near the starting biomes. So, you can find dozens of them with ease, making it simple to hoard Softwood Trunks.

Aspen Logs aren’t the only good early-game source of Softwood Trunks, however. You can also look for Beech Logs instead. For those, look for the green trees shown above on the map. Do not confuse them with the darker green ones, which are Oak.

When you reach the area with beeches, you can tell them apart from others thanks to their dark brown bark. As before, just chop them down to get their Beech Logs, which count as Softwood Trunks.

However, we still recommend aspens over beeches in this case simply because they are much easier to spot on the map! But both trees are super common in the early biomes, so keep an eye out for both.

That’s all you need to know to find Sofwood Trunk in Hytale! You can now collect these to craft a variety of useful things, such as upgrading the Farmer’s Workbench! Or just use them to pretty up your headquarters, if you wish.
