As we move closer to the release of WWE 2K26, leaks, rumors, and discussions are starting to ramp up. Today, Insider Gaming dropped some exclusive intel on the game: WWE 2K26‘s Showcase Mode stars “The Best in the World” himself — CM Punk. With the supposedly March launch on the horizon, this could be one of the hype train’s biggest stops yet.

What The CM Punk Showcase Mode Will Look Like
For those who are new to the series or not familiar with Showcase mode, it’s the game’s storytelling and narrative device. The Showcase mode works like a playable documentary, recreating iconic wrestlers’ careers. Last year, we had a focus on the Bloodline Dynasty, and in 2K24, we had the 40 Years of Wrestlemania showcase.
According to Insider Gaming’s sources, the mode will be narrated by Punk himself. It will be split into three sections. The first section relives his persona WWE highlights, probably stuff like the Pipe Bomb fallout, SummerSlam 2010 vs. Rey Mysterio, or possibly his match vs. The Undertaker. Second: “What If?” scenarios exploring his career had he not walked out in 2014. Maybe we get to see a Punk vs. prime Reigns at WrestleMania. Finally, we’ll be getting fantasy dream matches against foes he never squared off with, like Finn Balor or Kevin Owens.
Potential Challenges
However, as pointed out in our discussion of this upcoming showcase mode, it’s not without its hurdles. His iconic Money in the Bank match in 2011 vs John Cena was surrounded by controversial figures — mainly Vince McMahon. There will likely be quite a lot of sanitization here. Another angle that WWE might want to ignore is the 2009 feud with Jeff Hardy. Those Punk promos against Jeff Hardy were awfully real and heavy, digging into Hardy’s real personal battles. That was quite a dark storyline back then, but in 2026, they either don’t revisit it at all or heavily sanitize it.
Still, we’re blessed that CM Punk is a wrestler who doesn’t have any shortage of iconic moments. Think of his involvement with the Shield, the New Nexus storyline, and his highly entertaining 434-day reign as WWE champion.
