Crafting is a massive part of any survival game, and it is very prevalent in Hytale. Similar to Minecraft, just about any material can be used to craft something else, whether it is a simple glass bottle or a complex workbench.
9 Games to Play if You Love Hytale
Blocky or realistic, survival or combat, there are plenty of games that match Hytale’s distinct vibe.
Perhaps you have been building a home, complete with pets you’ve captured, and realized that it doesn’t have any windows. Wanting to finish your design, you look around for glass but can’t seem to find a way to make it.
You aren’t the only one, as glass isn’t the most obvious item in Hytale. Let’s break down how to make glass and get some windows.
Making Glass in Hytale
Hytale is a lot like Minecraft in many ways, but it doesn’t have all the same items. In this Minecraft-style game, your first inclination might be to collect sand to turn it into glass panes.
Your thought process isn’t skewed, but following this process won’t get the glass you are expecting. Instead of large panes of glass, as you would expect, sand allows you to make glass bottles.
Sand can be found on beaches, and sometimes on the edge of rivers, though it is important to note that you will mostly find sandstone and clay around rivers. Most of the sand you will find is next to the ocean and can be identified by its tan color and wavy pattern.
Once you have some sand, throw it in your furnace back at your base, give it some fuel, and wait. Each block of sand placed in a furnace will be turned into a glass potion bottle, complete with a cork that appears out of nowhere.
These bottles can be used to carry health and stamina potions, making them very useful, but you are probably expecting something different.

How to Make Windows
Instead of creating glass panes and using them to create windows, Hytale only requires you to use wood and a builder’s workbench. If you don’t have a builder’s workbench, you can craft one using six tree logs and three stone on a standard workbench.
Bring any logs to a builder’s workbench, put them in, and you will see the option to build a window. For instance, oak logs allow you to craft a standard wooden window. Birch logs, however, will create crude windows.
One log will get you two windows that you can place in your home or any other structure that requires them. You can also use items like marble cobble to create windows.
Using marble cobble will allow you to create light temple windows. Stone, however, cannot be used to craft any type of window. Likewise, ores cannot be used to craft windows either.
Can You Craft Glass Panes?
At this time, you cannot craft glass panes in Hytale. Instead, you can craft glass items using sand in a furnace or wood and marble on a builder’s workbench.
Since Hytale is still in early access, there are bound to be more crafting recipes added in the future. One of these updates could include additional glass items, such as panes, rods, and stained-glass, but at this time, there are no glass panes to be found in the game.
