Nearly 30 years ago, on October 24th, 1996, Core Design forever changed the gaming world when they released the third-person action-adventure game Tomb Raider, starring the instantly iconic Lara Croft.
Since then, Croft has starred in dozens of critically and financially acclaimed video games, three live-action films, two animated series, and many original comic and novel-based adventures.
The Next Live-Action Lara Croft Has Been Revealed (And Nerds Will Know Her)
The next actor to play Lara Croft in a live-action project has been revealed, and it’s a face that will be very familiar to fans of nerdy projects.
To celebrate Croft’s 30th anniversary, Crystal Dynamics, the current overseeing developer of the Tomb Raider franchise, has officially kicked off 30th anniversary celebrations for the archaeological-centric franchise.
Throughout the year, Crystal Dynamics will be celebrating this momentous milestone with numerous announcements about the Tomb Raider franchise, starting with the official announcements of several collaborations with various companies and products that will be released later this year.
Tomb Raider’s 30th Anniversary Collaborations Explained
Crystal Dynamics will partner up with over 10 companies and product lines to release Tomb Raider 30th Anniversary products throughout 2026 including:

- Blend Cota Studios
- Dark Horse Comics
- FiGGYZ
- Fulllife
- Funko
- GUNNAR Optiks
- Iconiq Studios
- Loungefly
- Shark Robot
- Syntilay
- Tomb Raider Gear Store

Many of these collabs will result in Tomb Raider 30th anniversary-themed apparel and decor, but a few products are more unique, such as a 30th Anniversary Lara Croft rubber duck from Tubbz and a new board game called Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos from Iconiq Studios.
8BitDo’s products haven’t yet been revealed, though it’s likely they’ll release a Tomb Raider 30th Anniversary-themed controller or keyboard later this year similar to the one they made for Rare’s 40th anniversary in 2025.

All of these products and celebrations will eventually culminate in the launch of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a remake of 1996’s Tomb Raider, later this year, with many products already being announced to coincide with that title, such as original art being made by Blend Cota for the game, similar to his work seen with the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis currently has no official release date, but October would be a fitting window for the game and a perfect way to cap off celebrations for Lara Croft and her storied history as a gaming icon.
