One of the dungeons you can find early in the game houses another key, but it is difficult to locate if you aren’t prepared. You will need to collect some tools before jumping into this dungeon.
Let’s break down where you can find the Rusted Barnacle Key in No Rest for the Wicked, and what it is used for.
Locating the Rusted Barnacle Key
Before you enter the dungeon with the Rusted Barnacle Key, you will need to do two things: level up appropriately and get a torch. The dungeon the key is located in isn’t the most difficult, but you should at least be around level eight to 10 before you go into it.
If you accidentally put points into stats you don’t want, you can respec your character. After you have leveled up enough, you will want to get your hands on a torch.
Torches are easy enough to come by, and you can purchase them in Sacrament. Simply go to one of the vendors, like the blacksmith, and they should have a torch for you.
If you would rather not have a torch, you can also use a light rune or a light spell if you are using a staff or wand.
Now that you are prepared, make your way into the dungeon that is next to the Saltborn Tower Whisper in the Shallows. There is a hatch that leads into the dungeon.
After entering the dungeon, make your way to the bottom floor by jumping down the stairs on the platforms. Watch out for the many enemies in the dungeon as you traverse.

As you go through the dungeon, make sure to collect loot from the various chests, as there could be Research Papers and Embers in them.
When you reach the bottom of the dungeon where the water is, make your way up the curved staircase. Following this path will lead you down a staircase to a room with multiple enemies and a locked door.
Next to the staircase you went down, you will find a small tunnel. Go through this tunnel, and it will lead you to a room with the Rusted Barnacle Key lying in the middle.
Where to Use the Rusted Barnacle Key
Now that you have your hands on the Rusted Barnacle Key, you can make your way back up the stairs you came down to reach this area. Follow the path down the other set of stairs that lead back to where the water is in the dungeon.
Here, you should see a door with a single torch next to it. This is the door that you can use the Rusted Barnacle Key on.
Inside this room, you can sometimes find items, but it is not a guarantee. Mostly, this room is good because it has a chest that can potentially have Embers and other useful items inside.
