Slay The Spire 2 brings with it a whole host of new and exciting changes. From stylish new characters, to unique Keywords, and now unique Quest cards that give you an extra little challenge while you’re ascending the Spire!
Of course, at first it might not immediately be apparent what these quest cards do, or whether it’s even worth it to try! The Spire never gives out powerful blessings for free. Roguelike veterans of the original know that for sure. Power always comes at a cost.

So let’s take a look at the new Quest cards, how to obtain them, and rewards that may just make or break your next run!
Where to find Quests
If you’re specifically looking for quests to complete, then you first need to head to as many question mark event markers while climbing the Spire. These are called Unknown events on your map legend and can have multiple outcomes.
Unknowns can result in anything from a special event, giving you a choice of a number of outcomes, a regular fight or even a visit to the shop. The quest cards that we’re talking about are found via a special event, giving you the option of taking up the quest or leaving it behind for a penalty.
How do Quests Function?
While it may seem like a no-brainer to take the quest, it isn’t all sunshine and roses. When you accept the Quest, the Quest card will be added to your deck. The problem is, this card is completely useless until you fulfil the parameters that the quest has set. It’s essentially an unplayable curse, bricking up your deck.
This isn’t a massive problem if you can complete the quest fast. For example, the Byrdonis Quest simply requires you to hatch an egg at a Rest Site. Easy as that.

However, if you look at the quest shown in the first image above, some quests require you to hold the quest card for the entirety of an Act. In Slay the Spire, you often want your deck to be as thin and streamlined as possible, so having a dead card for an entire act is pretty brutal. However, 600 coins is a lot of money. Potentially game-winning!
So whenever you encounter a quest, it’s up to you to decide whether the payoff of having a dead card in your deck is worth the outcome.
Quest Rewards
Completing a quest can give you some extremely powerful rewards. Whenever I’ve seen one, I’ve always taken it up, as more often than not, you can deal with a dead card in your deck so long as you have a decent draw engine.
You can get new, powerful cards like Byrd Swoop, unique relics like History Course, or even a ton of free money, potions or regular relics. While you shouldn’t build your run around completing the quest (if you need to heal, then heal!), the potential rewards are almost always worth it.
Slay the Spire 2 is still in early access, so as time goes on, it’s possible that new quests may be added to the game.
