Battlefield 6 broke records for the franchise and was the top-selling game of 2025 in the US, but that apparently wasn’t enough to insulate the dev team from layoffs. EA has laid off staff from across Battlefield Studios, but the exact number of affected employees is currently unknown.
According to IGN, EA characterized the layoffs as a “realignment,” and all four of the studios under the Battlefield Studios banner–DICE, Ripple Effect Studios, Criterion Games, and Motive Studio–will remain open.
“We’ve made select changes within our Battlefield organization to better align our teams around what matters most to our community,” said EA in a statement. “Battlefield remains one of our biggest priorities, and we’re continuing to invest in the franchise, guided by player feedback and insights from Battlefield Labs.”
