Ivy Road Is Closing After Failing To Secure Funding For Next Project

As of March 31, 2026, independent outfit Ivy Road will close its doors.

The studio team is confirming that this decision was made after the team was not able to attract a partner and the funding necessary to carry on with their sophomore experience, Engine Angel, at this point in time.

Those asking about Ivy Road’s “Cozy Core” debut, Wanderstop, it is being taken over by producer Annapurna Interactive.

Ivy Road is teasing that they have been working on with Annapurna over the past year. For now, Annapurna will be handling bug fixes, requests, and customer service for the game.

Ivy Road has provided players with a “Chapter Select” code [using the D-pad, input: UP, LEFT, DOWN, RIGHT, UP, B (RMB), UP, RIGHT, DOWN, LEFT, UP, B (RMB), UP, DOWN, UP] to get around areas where they get stuck, and to relive the experience over and over again.

The team leaves off with heartfelt thanks, saying, “We are so proud that we got to create something together as a team that was ultimately experienced by hundreds of thousands of players: we hope that you’re inspired to create something of your own someday, whether art, music, writing, or even a video game of your own. Please remember to take care of yourselves — drink tea, make sure to rest, and take time to pet the pluffins.”

In our review of Wanderstop, we gave it a 9 and said, “I didn’t know I needed Wanderstop when I started it. I was ready for the classic cozy Stardew Valley-esque experience where I was always on to the next thing, but instead, I got to rest. This year has already been an onslaught of fantastic, can’t-miss games, alongside being overwhelming and loud in the world at large. Everything feels constantly on fire, and it wasn’t until Wanderstop that I realized that I haven’t slowed down, jumping from one review to the next, from one doom scroll to another, without much space between.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful that these experiences have been exceptional, necessary, fun, or a welcome distraction – but I haven’t taken much time for myself between these moments. Then Wanderstop hit – a reminder that the space between is just as important as the moments and that slowing down is necessary to keep moving. It left a profound impression on me and will stay with me for a long time. Unlike anything else, Wanderstop is a must-play experience and a welcome space for healing.”
