Chat Pile will deliver their third studio album this September.
Revealed today, Who Loves the Sun will see a September 4 release on The Flenser. To celebrate the announcement, Chat Pile unveiled the first single from the record titled “Deep Blue.” An accompanying music video for the song directed by Stephen Mondics can be seen below. Bassist Stin said this about the song:
“This is the first track we wrote for the album and the one that helped set the tone for the whole thing. I personally love this because it sounds like Chat Pile doing a Billy Squire song. It’s our ‘Lonely is the Night,’ which is actually a fake Led Zeppelin song so who knows what the hell we’re actually doing here?”
Vocalist Ray B. said this about the new album:
“This record focuses on my grievances with the modern world. AI, genocide, climate change, the power elite, $$$$ hoarding pigs— all that st f**ks up your life and mine. The band is definitely stretching out their abilities on the album and I too felt inspired to go further— as a huge fan of Boston, I like to think Brad Delp is somewhere up there, smiling down, as I take the layering to new heights, but who can say? We have fun with it.”
Chat Pile will support the record with a headlining tour across the United States this fall. The trek will kick off on September 17 at Minneapolis’ First Avenue, and it’ll conclude on November 22 at The Granada in Lawrence.
