While gamescom is coming to an end this weekend, the last week of August is going to be a big one for gamers, as some solid games are set to make their debut.
If you’ve managed to save up the past few weeks, now’s your time to splurge, as the games releasing for the PS5 this week are not only from big-name franchises, but they’re varied in genre too.
Check out the 14 games releasing on PS5 and PS4 for this coming week, starting August 25.
New PlayStation Game Releases For Aug. 25 to 31
Release Highlights for the Week of Aug. 25 to 31
Gears of War: Reloaded (PS5 – Aug. 26): One of Microsoft’s biggest first-party games is now heading to PlayStation for the first time. The vaunted third-person cover shooter, which popularized mechanics such as the active reload, will be playable on PS5 with an added layer of visual sheen and other enhancements. Let’s hope this does well, so we’ll see the franchise’s other entries “Roadie Run” their way on the PS5 too.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (PS5 – Aug. 28): Arguably Hideo Kojima’s finest work, Metal Gear Solid Delta is more than a visual upgrade. Konami has also snuck in new gameplay mechanics, refinements, and even new Easter eggs too. Based on critical reviews, it doesn’t disappoint and is lauded as a faithful remake that pays tribute to its source material.
Lost Soul Aside (PS5 – Aug. 29): The latest game from Sony’s China Hero Project, this PS5-exclusive is developed by Chinese studio Ultizero Games. If you’re tired of Souls games, then this might be the cure. Lost Soul Aside is a fast-paced action-adventure game that draws inspiration from the likes of Devil May Cry, which means combat is more frenetic than methodical. Could this be the next big PlayStation IP? We’ll know for sure in a few days’ time.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance (PS5, PS4 – Aug. 29): While most of the week’s big-name releases are exclusively for the PS5, the PS4 is still getting some love. The latest Shinobi game is a reboot of the classic SEGA franchise, and comes from the 2D action masters at Lizardcube (Streets of Rage 4, Wonder Boy). This action platformer, featuring a unique hand-drawn look, offers fast-paced action with stylish combat, and could be another hit for Lizardcube.
