There is a surprisingly low number of ice-type Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, with Vanillite being one of them. With that being said, there are still plenty of other Pokémon you can discover in the game’s Wild Zones, but none are as worthwhile as this floating ice-cream cone.

Thanks to Vanillite and its evolutions’ decent moveset, it is now more viable in competition than ever before. This means that you will probably want to get your hands on this Pokémon as soon as you possibly can.

Let’s break down everything you need to know about catching Vanillite and evolving it in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

How to Catch Vanillite in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Vanillite is actually found in multiple locations around Lumiose City. You can find this Pokémon earlier in the game, around level 18, in Wild Zone 7. This is the Wild Zone located along the western river of the city.

In this area, you can also find Pokémon like Kakuna and Shuppet. Vanillite can also be found in Wild Zone 12. This Wild Zone becomes available much later in the game, around level 34.

Wild Zone 12 is located in the southern portion of the city. If you want to wait until later in the game to catch this Pokémon, it may be a bit more beneficial, as Vanillite evolves into Vanillish at level 35.

This means that you will be able to evolve your Vanillite almost as soon as you catch it if you obtain one from Wild Zone 12. Of course, if you wait until this point, you will also need to contend with an Alpha Abomasnow.

There are a few things about Vanillite that you will want to know before catching it. First, it is a rather skittish Pokémon. While it will not flee, disappearing in the process, it will run away from you if you linger around it too long.

This means that you will need to chase after Vanillite in the Wild Zone, where you encounter it. I recommend having a fire Pokémon ready to take it down quickly, as this will allow you to capture it before it can run.

Overall, Vanillite is not very difficult to catch. If it does run away, simply chase after it. I have managed to catch multiple of these Pokémon using Ultra Balls without weakening them.

How to Evolve Vanillite Into Vanillish and Vanilluxe

Evolving Vanillite is a rather simple task, as all you need to do is level it up. This Pokémon will first evolve into Vanillish after it reaches level 35. When this happens, the evolution symbol will appear next to its icon in the menu.

Select the Pokémon in your menu, and then select the evolve option. This will evolve Vanillite into Vanillish. This process will be repeated to evolve Vanillish into Vanilluxe.

Vanillish evolves into Vanilluxe at level 47, making it a rather high-level evolution. If you have them, you can use XP Candy or Rare Candy to level up Vanillish quickly, so that you can quickly get your hands on a Vanilluxe to use for later-game battles.
