Unlike most modern titles that typically allow us to save our game anytime and anywhere that we want to, Kingdom Hearts sticks to a rigid “save point” system that forces us to come to a specific place on the map in order to save our progress. While this may seem like an unwanted limitation by the game developers on the surface, each of these designated checkpoints guide us to specific places on each level that our journey MUST pass through in order to proceed as well as provide a defined safe space for us to return to if we fall in battle. Sure, finding one often means we have a challenging battle ahead of us, but it is only by following these navigational mandates that we reach the endgame that we have been seeking.
In the stories of our lives, we will all experience some unwanted “checkpoints” that alter the path that our lives have taken… many that are from our own poor choices, and some from the actions of others. But in my experience I have found that even these undesired events are what led me to the relationship with the Lord that I have now, and without these “anchor points” in my life I would be an entirely different person than I am today. Let’s not waste another moment wondering “what if” or regretting mistakes we have repented of. These save points will all make sense one day, and the Lord will work these things together for our good.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11
