When you start exporting Vampire Survivor, you can afford to open a new studio or two. And that’s exactly what poncle is planning on doing.
The formerly solo outfit that has grown significantly, having struck us all with the “just one more game” bug, is announcing they are set to open a new studio based in Japan.
According to a Weekly Famitsu interview in Japan, no longer alone, poncle Founder Luca Galante has tapped El Shaddai Creator Sawaki Takeyasu to lead this new studio.
Galante and Takeyasu apparently first crossed paths in 2023, and nerded out over each other’s work.
Galante had long dreamed of establishing in Japan, a country that served as inspiration and a second home for the Italian-born, British-based coder.
Joining the other poncle studio recently established in Galante’s home country of Italy, Takeyasu and the staff of this new studio in Japan will support Vampire Survivor operations, helping to promote the game to a Japanese audience.
They will also have the opportunity to spawn a future project focused on passion, fostering the development of talent in Japan, and maybe even striking it as lucky as Galante did with Vampire Survivor.
poncle has recently released a new game in the Vampire Survivor universe, Vampire Crawlers, and is working on more universal tie-ins as well as new IPs.
