Anyone who played the original Hollow Knight knows how powerful the Sharp Shadow Charm was. In fact, it was one of the charms I struggled to play without!
What if I told you that you could obtain this power in the world of Hollow Knight: Silksong? In my opinion, it received a sizable upgrade, too. The power to dash through your enemies and deal massive chunks of damage will soon be yours to command.
Get ready to head into the Wormways. You’ll be in and out in a jiffy, trust me!
Prerequisites
Before you even think about stepping into the Wormways, there are a few things you need beforehand.
First off, you’re going to need a simple key to open up the door that leads to the main Wormway area. The easiest place to get one of these is via the merchant who resides in Bone Bottom. It costs 500, so make sure you have enough Rosary beads on hand.
Next up, you require the Needolin ability that you gained from defeating the Widow back in Bellhart. There is another door deep in the Wormways that you need to open.
Finally, you will also need the Clawline ability that you obtained from The Cauldron deep in the Underworks. This is a tricky area that you’ll uncover in Act 2.
I thought you needed the Faywing cloak to get up to the Needolin door, but after a few tries, I managed the jump with a perfectly timed sprint-jump and clawline.
The Wormways
From Bone Bottom, take the lift to the edge of Mosshome and then jump across the gap to the west to reach the entrance to the Wormways.
Sprint past the acid-spitting beast, and in the next chamber, you’ll find the door that requires the Simple Key.
Remember, if you’re low on health, you can heal from the worms. You can’t kill them, but they will give you silk.
Continue west through the next hall, dashing past the worms that drop from the ceiling. Head up and then west again to reach a large sandy gap, with the door up ahead.
Sprint-jump and then use your clawline at the apex of your jump to reach the platform. If you’re really struggling with this, it may simply be easier to get the Faywing cloak from Mount Fay. You’re going to need this upgrade in the future anyway, so get it done!
Weavenest Karn
If you’ve ever been to any of the Weavenests before, you know they’re great places to pick up neat upgrades to your equipment. Play your Needolin to open the door and head on through.
Unfortunately, it looks like this one’s been taken over by worms. Luckily, this is a very short area, consisting of one long chamber that heads all the way to the left.
Keep left and jump over the spike pits, avoiding the little jumping worms that emerge from the ground. Soon, you’ll get to an area with small platforms and an entire ocean of spikes covering the ground. Worms fall quickly from above here, so jump-dash your way through as quickly as possible.
After a few well-timed jumps, you’ll reach the Sharpdart upgrade. Use your Bind ability, and you will receive your reward.
Sharpdart is my favourite Silk Skill so far, and it’s perfect for when enemies line up next to each other. If you’re struggling with fights like The Forum in the Citadel, which is full of enemies that can deflect and parry you, this will shred those pesky flying foes that you can’t pin down.
