Is it ever worth it to move onto a new system entirely?

I usually play D&D 5e, but I’m not really sure how I feel about it anymore. It feels like there’s almost too much variety, like it’s built to cram as many character options and whatnot as possible into a single world as possible, until it becomes a mess to even keep track of different cultures or characters.

I don’t think I’ll switch – at least not for some time – however I’m a bit curious; even if someone has invested a lot of time and resources into a system, will it ever be worth it to just leave it behind?
