World of Warcraft Classic: Burning Crusade Expansion Coming This Year

Blizzard has announced that its popular MMO World of Warcraft Classic will be adding its first expansion, The Burning Crusade, later this year. Burning Crusade Classic will be included in current WoW subscriptions at no additional cost. The announcement trailer and a deep dive video from BlizzConline 2021 can be viewed below.

The Burning Crusade originally came out in 2007 and the expansion will bring with it two new playable races, new options for heroes, flying mounts, raids, dungeons, PvP arena gates, and the explorable shattered realm of Outland. These updates will come over the course of the content through patches. Before entering the expansion’s realms, players will be given a choice to either continue with the World of Warcraft Classic experience, or to progress into the Burning Crusade era with other Horde and Alliance players. Players wanting to experience both options can clone their characters and have them join both servers as a paid add-on. Blizzard is also offering new players the option to create a boosted level 58 character, though this option is only for those wanting to explore the expansion and will not be available for the new Classic Era servers.

World of Warcraft is one of the biggest massive multiplayer online RPGs in the world. It has millions of subscribers and with the addition of World or Warcraft Classic, players can enjoy the game before the expansions started to change the world of Azeroth. Blizzard is expected to launch a beta version of Burning Crusade, to collect feedback and attempt to recreate a balanced experience, in the near future.
