Despite appearing to be all systems go on The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk sequel, CD Projekt RED has continued to update Cyberpunk 2077.
After an infamous launch when the game was clearly released before it was ready, CD Projekt RED has done an outstanding job of addressing player concerns and helping to make Cyberpunk 2077 the game we all envisioned over a decade ago after that first teaser trailer, which said the game would release “when it’s ready.”
Although that wasn’t the case, the turnaround for Cyberpunk 2077 ranks among the best redemption stories in gaming. That story has, surprisingly, continued this year, thanks to two, albeit minor, content updates.
It looks like things aren’t done yet, and we could be getting some more Cyberpunk updates later this week.
CD Projekt RED Is Teasing Cyberpunk News For September 4th
On their X, formerly known as Twitter, page, the official Cyberpunk 2077 account posted a cryptic teaser from President Rosalind Myers.
“Our great nation is once again facing a mounting cybersecurity threat — from those who hide in the shadows, too cowardly to publicly proclaim their beliefs, who are viciously determined to tear down our flag and the values it upholds,” it reads. “I will not accept this, and I know you won’t either.”
“The N.U.S.A. is seeking brave netrunners to join our efforts and overcome this grave threat. Our brave agents work tirelessly to keep our country secure, maintain its dominance, and defend it from those so eager to undermine it. Now you can join us in our fight for freedom. I personally welcome all who believe they have what it takes.”
What this means is anyone’s guess, but people have their theories! We know that a second season of Edgerunners, the Cyberpunk anime, is coming at some point this year. Again, both game updates this year have been relatively minor. Update 2.2 focused on self-expression, while Update 2.3 concentrated more on quality-of-life improvements.
It’s very possible that this teaser has to do with content outside of the actual game. Still, any in-game update, no matter how small, is exciting. We’ll see what happens later this week!
