Ubisoft’s latest mainline Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, will soon receive its first major DLC in the form of the Claws of Awaji expansion launching on Tuesday, September 16th.
The expansion will have Naoe and Yasuke attempt to track down Naoe’s mother, Fujibayashi Tsuyu, on the nearby island as they grapple with the hostile faction, the Sanzoku Ippa, and deal with remaining Templar threats.
In preparation for the expansion’s launch, Ubisoft will release a new update for Shadows, Title Update 1.1.1, on Thursday, September 11th. This patch will implement new bug fixes, quality of life improvements, and features associated with the expansion.
On top of these features, Ubisoft will release a plethora of free new content in Shadows with the update, including a classic design many veteran Assassin’s Creed players will enjoy: an outfit based on the robes of Giovanni and Ezio Auditore da Firenze from Assassin’s Creed 2.
Free Content in Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Title Update 1.1.1
Legacy outfits of other legendary Assassins were notably absent in Shadows during its launch, but now Ubisoft has begun to let players adorn outfits of some of the most popular characters seen in the franchise.
Once the update is released, players can access a new Project available in the Animus HUB, called Sanctuary, which will gift players a Charm of Firenze trinket, an Eagle Head kusarigama, a Rooftop Cat pet dressed in a hooded Assassin’s Creed 2-like costume, and Ezio-inspired Renaissance Robes for Naoe.
However, while this new Assassin’s Creed 2-themed content is free, players will still need to activate the new Project, complete Anomalies, and progress through the rewards until they can access each new item.
Along with the new Ezio gear, Title Update 1.1.1 will release a free new story quest called “Go With The Bo” for all players, which will have Naoe and Junjiro meet a legendary Bo Master and become masters of the Bo staff, a brand-new weapon for Shadows.
The Bo staff was originally going to be locked away for purchasers of the Claws of Awaji expansion only, but the developers thought that the Bo staff was “… way too cool not to share with everyone.”
