Event Quests make for some of the most exciting and unique hunting opportunities in Monster Hunter Wilds, and thankfully, there’s almost always one or more going on for players to dive into. Not only are the fearsome battles themselves exciting to take on, but the special rewards often provided from these quests make the effort more than worth it.
There’s perhaps no better example of that than the addition of The Claws Are Out event quest, which gives players a chance to earn the adorably fluffy Toe Bean Mittens gear for their character. However, you only have so long to get your paws on this reward, so here’s how to knock this quest out efficiently and gain one of the best layered armor pieces in the game.
How to Complete The Claws Are Out Event Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds
To get started on The Claws Are Out event quest, talk to either Alma (or Erik) at any base camp or Lotta at the Quest Counter in the Grand Hub. Select the ‘Event Quests’ option from the menu, which will pull up the options that are currently available.
Among them should be one called ‘The Claws Are Out’, which requires you to hunt a Tempered Guardian Ebony Odagaron in Wyveria, its usual stomping grounds. Since it’s a Tempered version, this one will pack more of a punch than its normal variant, so prepare accordingly. HR 31 is required to embark on this quest, so bear that in mind as well.
You can check the specs of this monster via the ‘Detailed Info’ tab on the quest listing. Guardian Ebony Odagaron is weakest to Water and is also vulnerable to traps and status effects like Poison and Paralysis. So consider bringing weapons imbued with Water elemental damage, if you have one.
Make sure to bring essential items like Mega Potions, Demondrug, Armorskin, and remedies such as Sushifish Scales or Rations for afflictions like Bleed. Also, make sure you cook and eat a meal beforehand and/or gain buffs from Diva’s nightly song in the Grand Hub.
When you’re ready, queue up for the quest (equip a Lucky Voucher if you wish), adjust your preferred support hunters, and you’ll be sent to the location. Track down the Guardian Ebony Odagaron on the map and kick off the fight once you’ve equipped your desired buffs.
As mentioned before, the biggest nuisance to worry about with Odagaron (aside from it hopping all over the place) is its pesky status afflictions, including Bleed and Dragonblight. Bleed can quickly melt your health bar if you’re not careful, so make sure to have your cures on hand. Meanwhile, Dragonblight negates all elemental damage you do for up to a minute, but it can be cured with Nulberries.
Once Odagaron goes down, make sure to carve it for any parts you might want for layered armor or otherwise. Check all your rewards, and among them should be at least one Toe Bean Ticket. This is the special reward item for this event quest, which you can use to craft the Toe Bean Mittens armor piece.
Like previous Event Quests in the game, The Claws Are Out quest is available for a limited time, from September 17th until the end of the month on September 30th, 2025. During that time, you can embark on the quest as many times as you wish.
How to Make Toe Bean Mittens Gear in Monster Hunter Wilds
In order to make the Toe Bean Mittens armor piece, you’ll need a few different materials, including:
- 3 x Toe Bean Ticket
- 3 x Hunter Symbol II
- 3 x Guardian Ebony Claw+
- 4 x Guardian Pelt+
- 6,000 x zenny
Luckily, you can farm all of these items from the same event quest. Since the Toe Bean Ticket is a rare drop, you’ll likely need to complete the quest at least twice to obtain enough of them, along with any other materials you’re short on.
Once you have them all, return to either Gemma at base camp or Legend at the Grand Hub. You’ll find the option to craft the Toe Bean Mittens near the bottom of the list.
Once done, you can equip them either as actual armor (though their stats aren’t particularly strong) or use them as layered armor for any of your customized looks. Your Palico will certainly be proud, and you’ll want it just in time for the Final Fantasy XIV 2025 collaboration event.
