Megabonk mania is taking the world by storm. I discovered the new 3D Vampire Survivors clone by watching popular streamers, such as Shroud, play it on Twitch.
I told myself, “Hey, this game looks familiar.” Now here we are a week later, and I cannot put this game down. Whenever I’m not playing Megabonk, I’m doing one of two things: thinking about it or, in this case, writing about it.
Take, for example, the fact that there’s a second level in Megabonk: the Desert. Yes, this is true, despite virtually every stream, video, and screenshot of the game I’ve seen taking place in the Forest level.
Unfortunately, the Desert level is locked at first, but unlocking it is actually pretty easy, especially if you’re a fan of cowboy robots who shoot guns.
Unlocking The Desert Level In Megabonk
First things first, let’s review some key definitions. Here’s how Megabonk’s levels work:
- There are currently two levels in Megabonk: Forest and Desert.
- Each level has three tiers. The higher the tier, the higher the difficulty.
- Tier 2 of each level will have an additional stage in the map available after defeating the boss. Tier 3 will have a total of three stages available.o
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s recap the process required to unlock the Desert level.
To unlock the Desert in Megabonk, you’ll first need to unlock the CL4NK character, which requires the Revolver weapon and killing 7,500 enemies.
From there, you’ll need to play as CL4NK and the Forest Tier 2 stage. Defeat the first boss in the stage, enter the portal to enter the second section within Forest Tier 2, and you’ll unlock the Desert level.
As indicated above, you’ll get a notification to confirm you’ve completed the requirement.
The Desert level comes with its own set of enemies and interactable objects that you’ll need to complete quests to unlock more characters, weapons, and tomes.
It’s important to note that Desert plays quite differently from Forest. First and foremost, it’s, well, a desert, and lacks the rolling “hills” found in the Forest. For better or worse, this is a wide-open, barren wasteland.
There’s also a different boss waiting for you in Desert: Lil’ Anubis, and he comes with his own set of abilities. The biggest one is a rotating circle of beams that you’ll need to avoid.
Make sure you spend enough time in here to unlock everything you need to perfect your build and stay alive as long as possible, so get bonkin’!
