The Mortuary Assistant creators Darkstone Digital are finally giving players a peek at their upcoming Paranormal Activity game via a found-footage style trailer. Paranormal Activity: Threshold appears to follow the story of a couple who have moved into what is, by the male character’s own words, “the only house we could afford.”

Unsurprisingly, things go south pretty quickly,

The trailer features several gameplay clips, showing the player-character wandering around with a video camera, Outlast-style, as furniture moves on its own and unexplained noises are heard from the shadows. The player-character can later be seen examining a spirit board-like object with what looks like an EMF detector nearby before being dragged into darkness by an unseen force.

Darkstone Digital says its upcoming spine-chiller “Aims to deliver a uniquely chilling experience, faithful to the franchise’s legacy of found footage fear.”

The studio first came to prominence with 2022’s terrifying cadaver-care sim, The Mortuary Assistant, which garnered praise for its “Operation, but cursed” take on the horror genre. Darkstone first announced Paranormal Activity: Threshold in early 2024, though did not reveal its title at the time.

Darkstone hasn’t yet announced the game’s launch date, but it’s currently available to wishlist on Steam.
