Hello Games is getting in on the Mass Effect Day goodness by bringing the SSV Normandy SR1 to No Man’s Sky via the Beachhead expedition. In a short trailer shared on social media, the Normandy can be seen zooming into the No Man’s Sky universe, with other ships flying closer to examine Commander Shepard’s famous vessel.
“We remain THE BIGGEST Mass Effect fans and we can’t describe how happy this makes us,” Hello Games founder Sean Murray said in a recent post on Twitter (formerly X). “Happy N7 Day Everybody!”
As explained in a recent blog post on the official No Man’s Sky website, players can earn the Normandy by completing the Beachhead expedition, after which they will be able to add the ship to their collection.
This isn’t the first time the Normandy has appeared in No Man’s Sky. The ship initially landed in the game in 2021 as part of a collaboration between BioWare and Hello Games, meant to celebrate the launch of Mass Effect Legendary Edition. The No Man’s Sky version of the Normandy is classified as a Recon frigate and is effectively indestructible. Because of this, players often use it for suicide missions, which is a bit ironic given the fact that the Normandy was canonically part of a suicide mission in Mass Effect 2, as well.
“We’ve welcomed many new Travellers to No Man’s Sky since the Normandy’s last appearance in the Euclid galaxy, and we hope this news comes as a welcome surprise to our fellow Mass Effect fans!” Hello Games said in the blog post.
The Beachhead expedition will be accessible to players from Nov. 7 – 18.
