LEGO and video games go together like peanut butter and jelly, with both products being bountiful sources of fun and joy for millions of people worldwide.
Since the mid 1990s, dozens of video games have been produced using LEGO bricks and minifigures as the basis for their world design and gameplay, from the hit LEGO Star Wars games to the recent original title LEGO Voyagers.
10 Game Franchises With The Most Mainline Sequels, Ranked
From Pokemon to Call of Duty, we’re ranking 10 game franchises with the most sequels.
However, despite many video games being made with LEGOs, there haven’t been many LEGO building sets made based on video game franchises until the 2010s with more and more video game sets being made every year.
While many LEGO sets based on games have been centered around highly popular modern franchises, a few sets have gone on to represent some of the greatest video game characters, icons, and consoles for people of all ages to enjoy.
This list does not include miniature sets or packs from LEGO Dimensions or LEGO adjacent sets such as Mega Bloks or Mega Construx.
10 LEGO PAC-MAN Arcade
An Arcade Classic in LEGO Form
In 2023, LEGO and Bandai Namco Entertainment collaborated to create the 2,651 piece LEGO Icons set LEGO PAC-MAN Arcade based on the classic 1980 arcade cabinet Pac-Man.
This set is inspired by the original Pac-Man arcade game, complete with a moving joystick and illuminating coin slot, though it’s not an exact replica of the original game cabinet and instead more resembles the compact PAC-MAN Partycade from Arcade1Up.
Despite not being a perfect recreation of the original arcade cabinet, the LEGO PAC-MAN set is still a ton of fun to build and play with as it has a crank that will simulate Pac-Man and the Ghosts moving around the iconic black and blue maze.
Plus, this set comes with a miniature scene of a minifigure playing a proper 1980s Pac-Man arcade cabinet which can be stored in the back of the set’s main cabinet or be put on display as a nice contrast to the main set.
9 LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone
Speeding Around in a Blocky World
Many popular LEGO sets today start out as fan designs through LEGO Ideas, a program in which people can submit their own LEGO concepts to potentially become official LEGO sets as long as they receive over 10,000 supporters and pass a review panel.
One of the most popular LEGO Ideas sets that managed to get released based on a video game was 2022’s 1,125 piece set LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog — Green Hill Zone.
Green Hill Zone from 1991’s Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most iconic first levels in all of gaming, so it was a perfect fit to have a part of the level with Sonic‘s famous vertical loops being recreated in LEGO form.
While many Sonic LEGO sets have been made since, thanks in large part to the success of the Sonic the Hedgehog films, this set is still one of the greatest as it was one of the first times Sonic was made in minifigure form and that a video game level itself was recreated.
8 LEGO Fortnite Battle Bus
Jumping Into a LEGO Royale
Fortnite is one of, if not arguably, the most popular video game in modern gaming for adults and kids alike, so it was only a matter of time that LEGO would try to collaborate with Epic Games to make LEGO Fornite sets, especially after LEGO Fortnite launched in 2023.
Since then, many LEGO Fornite sets have been produced, from the small, brick-centered BrickHeadz to larger, display-oriented sets such as LEGO Fortnite Peely Bone, but I’d argue the best set to truly represent Fortnite in LEGO form is the LEGO Fornite Battle Bus.
This 954-piece set perfectly recreates Fortnite‘s iconic air balloon Battle Bus used in its highly popular Battle Royale mode, alongside coming with nine minifigures of some of Fortnite‘s most famous characters, such as Cuddle Team Leader and Drift.
This set could serve perfectly as a display piece for die-hard Fortnite fans but also as a perfect toy for kids, as it can still be played with as a car like most other LEGO vehicles.
10 Open-World Games That Are Hard to Put Down
These games are addicting and it’s tough to stop playing them.

Minecraft and LEGO were bound to collaborate at some point due to the two properties similarities of building worlds with blocks and while the first official LEGO Minecraft set was made in 2012 with Micro World, dozens of other sets based on Minecraft have been made since.
Many LEGO Minecraft sets have perfectly recreated the game’s many biomes, mobs, and blocks, but I’d argue that the best LEGO Minecraft set is 2025’s The Creeper.
This 665-piece set is relatively bare bones compared to other sets on this list, but it does allow fans to create a giant Creeper that’s pretty accurate and fairly detailed to the appearance of Creepers in the game.
Plus, this set comes with a small blocky Pig mob that’s meant to represent how the Creeper was originally created from a coding error on a Pig model back in 2009, which is a nice nod to Minecraft‘s history.
6 LEGO Star Wars – Rogue Shadow
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’s Iconic Ship
One of the earliest LEGO sets ever made based on a video game is 2008’s LEGO Star Wars – Rogue Shadow, based on the iconic hero ship of Galen Marek from the hit action-adventure game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
This LEGO set was a must-have for any and all fans of The Force Unleashed as it was one of the few ways to actually own a model of the Rogue Shadow, but it also included three unique minifigures of Marek, Juno Eclipse, and a battle damaged Darth Vader from the end of the game.
LEGO Star Wars sets are some of the most common and popular LEGO sets made, but it’s very rare when sets based on Star Wars characters and ships from video games are produced, which makes the Rogue Shadow set all the more alluring.
Sadly, this set has long been retired, and it’s highly unlikely Disney and LEGO will re-release a set based on the now non-canon Force Unleashed, so this set and its minifigures have become some of the rarest video game LEGO sets to find completely intact.
5 LEGO Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1
Link and Zelda Throughout the Ages
Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda is one of the greatest video game franchises ever made and while a new LoZ LEGO set is coming in 2026, LEGO and Nintendo have already produced one of the greatest video game sets with 2024’s Great Deku Tree 2-in-1.
This 2,500-piece set not only allows LoZ fans to finally recreate the Great Deku Tree from 1998’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time but also the Great Deku Tree’s incarnation from 2017’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
As such, this set additionally comes with four unique minifigures of young and adult Link from Ocarina as well as Link and Zelda from Breath, complete with miniature ocarina and Sheikah Slate pieces.
There’s more to build in this set than the Deku Tree, Link, and Zelda, as fans can additionally build miniature LEGO sets of the maraca playing Korok Hestu and a Gold Skulltula.
10 Best Open World Games Forgotten by Time
Such a large genre was bound to leave some undervalued ones behind.
4 LEGO Game Boy
Portable LEGO Power
2025’s LEGO Game Boy set is one of the most recent LEGO sets based on video games made yet, but it’s already one of the greatest sets ever made due to how well it recreates Nintendo’s iconic Game Boy handheld console.
Comprised of 421 pieces, this set doesn’t come with any minifigures, but instead, it’s a 1:1 replica of the original 1989 Game Boy complete with authentic buttons, dials, and a Game Pak cartridge slot.
The LEGO Game Boy set additionally comes with brick-built Game Pak cartridges of Super Mario Land and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, along with swappable lenticular screens of both games and the Game Boy’s startup screen.
The only thing that holds this set back a bit for me is the lack of a LEGO recreation of the Tetris Game Boy cartridge since that was the Game Boy’s launch title and was critical to the handheld’s global success.
3 LEGO Atari 2600
1970s Gaming Fun in LEGO Form
The Atari 2600 may be the most important home console ever made thanks to the way it popularized console gaming in general before the video game crash of 1983 and, as such, it was amazing to see it given new life in 2022’s LEGO Icons Atari 2600 set for the console’s 50th anniversary.
This 2,532-piece set isn’t a 1:1 recreation of the original 1977 console, but it’s fairly close to the original’s dimensions, and it comes with a realistic front panel with functioning switches, a LEGO recreation of the 2600’s iconic black joystick, and a ROM cartridge slot.
The ROM cartridge slot can be filled with three replica cartridges of the 2600’s classic Asteroids, Adventure, and Centipede games, which can also be rebuilt into 3D scenes of each game’s signature pixelated gameplay.
Plus, this LEGO set comes with a few fun secrets as a miniature vignette of a minifigure playing the Atari 2600 in a classic 1970s and 80s wooden paneled room that can fold down and hide within the console.
2 LEGO Horizon Forbidden West: Tallneck
Horizon’s LEGO Potential
After the global success of 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn, many fans thought that Horizon‘s post-apocalyptic world filled with gigantic animalistic machines would be a perfect fit for a LEGO adaptation.
Guerrilla Games and LEGO agreed as LEGO Model Designer Isaac Snyder quickly began working on an official LEGO Horizon set in time for the launch of Horizon Forbidden West, resulting in the creation of 2022’s LEGO Horizon Forbidden West: Tallneck set.
Boasting1,222 pieces, it beautifully recreated Horizon‘s iconic Tallneck machine into LEGO form along with an exclusive minifigure of series protagonist Aloy and a mini LEGO figure of the small yet still iconic Watcher machine.
This set quickly sold out and is still sadly retired to this very day, but it inspired LEGO to pitch Guerrilla a LEGO Horizon video game which eventually became 2024’s LEGO Horizon Adventures and its related LEGO Horizon Adventures Aloy & Varl vs. Shell-Walker & Sawtooth set.
1 LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System
Playing With LEGO Power
The Atari 2600 may have popularized home console gaming overall in the 1970s and early 80s, but it was the Nintendo Entertainment System that arguably saved gaming as a whole from the brink of death following the video game crash of 1983.
The NES is one of the most important and iconic consoles ever made with its sleek gray rectangular console and controller designs as well as its massive library of iconic games from Super Mario Bros. to Metroid so getting to recreate this gaming icon in LEGO form was perfect.
This 2,646 piece 2020 LEGO set doesn’t come with any minifigures, but fans could instead perfectly recreate the NES console, one controller, a retro boxy television, and a Game Pak cartridge of 1985’s classic Super Mario Bros.
Additionally, the TV features a flat 8-bit recreation of Mario running around in World 1-1 complete with LEGO recreations of Goombas and Mushroom power-ups, making this whole set a perfect celebration of the NES and Mario in LEGO form.
