South African studio Nyamakop is preparing to launch their ambitious heist puzzle game Relooted on 10th February, bringing players into an Africanfuturist world where cultural artifacts need rescuing. The game combines parkour action with puzzle-solving as players work to reclaim 70 real-world artifacts currently held in Western museums and private collections, returning them to their countries of origin.

Players take on the role of characters working to recover culturally significant items through careful planning and swift execution. The gameplay blends tactical puzzle elements with flow-based parkour, requiring players to assemble crews, plan escape routes, and position team members strategically before making their move. Each mission focuses on artifacts that hold genuine historical, cultural, and spiritual importance to the communities they were taken from.

The game presents an Africanfuturist vision of Johannesburg, South Africa, serving as the base of operations for these unconventional rescue missions. Players will gradually recruit different crew members, each bringing unique abilities to help tackle the various challenges presented by different heist scenarios. The studio describes the experience as blending “careful puzzle-like planning and fast-paced parkour running.”

Nyamakop previously gained recognition for their 2018 platformer Semblance, which became the first African-developed IP to launch on a Nintendo console and earned a spot in Metacritic’s top 100 PC games of 2018. The Johannesburg-based studio has been working on Relooted since then, with the game making its debut appearance at Summer Game Fest last year.

Relooted launches on 10th February for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, as well as Xbox Series X|S. Players interested in learning more can check out the game’s trailer and store pages, or visit the official press kit for additional details about this unique take on the heist genre.
