ESA Canada Reveals The Top 20 Best-Selling Video Games in Canada For 2025 With Battlefield 6 Taking The Crown

Even though it feels like 2025 ended a while ago, the Entertainment Software Association’s Canada branch, or the ESA Canada for short, has revealed Canada’s top 20 best-selling games for all of 2025, with five developed in Canada by either the project lead or support studios working on any of those titles.

While released later in the year, Battlefield 6 took the number one spot, as the game brought the series back, and players leaned more into EA’s shooter than Call of Duty offered. The rest of the rankings sees many of the usual sports titles and single-player games taking a variety of spots in the top 20, with a hockey game, NHL 26, taking the number 2 spot; such an on-brand ranking for our hockey-loving country.

It looks like Ghost of Yōtei is selling really well for Sony as the PlayStation exclusive, even only on one platform, made it into 2025’s top 10 at the number 9 spot in ESA Canada’s rankings. Nintendo exclusives such as Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Donkey Kong Bananza also made the top 20. ESA Canada underscores that video games are a major driver of the country’s economy, contributing over $5.5 billion to Canada’s GDP annually. ESA Canada compiled the annual list, with data for its top 20 produced in collaboration with the marketing research firm Circana (formerly the NPD Group and IRI).
