Behind the Nuts is probably the hardest side job in all of Mouse: P.I. for Hire to figure out on your own as you blast your way through this awesome boomer-shooter. In fact, it’s one that personally took me a couple of hours to figure out on my own.
Mouse: P.I. for Hire – 10 Best Weapons, Ranked
Time to make some swiss cheese.
The good news for you is that you don’t need to go through the same struggle that I did. Instead, let me lay this one out for you and you journey into the Curdsville Nuthouse in Mouse: P.I.
How to Start the Side Job
The name of the main job that’s a prerequisite for this side job is One Flew. Once you have access to One Flew, you’re all set to take on Behind the Nuts. Before you go out on the job, pay Tammy Tumbler another visit in the basement of her shop.
Once again, Tammy has a task for you centered around the rich and the famous. She’s caught wind that a movie star is being held within the Curdsville Nuthouse, so she asks you to snap a photo as proof. This has to be some sort of HIPAA violation, though I suppose not, since those laws didn’t pass till the 1990s.
Anyway, with the side job active, you’re now free to embark on your vacation to the Curdsville Nuthouse.
Completing the Side Job
As of writing, this side job is a little misleading. The task will switch to “Take a glorious picture of Gloria” while you’re in the first cellblock, so you might spend far too much time searching this area. She’s not here, however.
Instead, keep progressing the main job a decent ways. Eventually, you’ll reach a talking brain in a vat.
In the same room where the brain is, pay attention to the piece of paper on a stack of files. It shows four music notes; C-A-G-E. Hmm. I wonder if we’ll need this.
Right after you free the brain and earn the new Jar-Head gun, you’ll head back into the giant, open arena with the statue in the middle. Your next task for this side job is here, but go ahead and clear out the enemies first.
Once the enemies are dispatched, you’ll be able to interact with the piano with a skeleton sitting on its bench. Move close enough to the keys, and notice that you have the ability to play different notes on the piano depending on where you’re standing. Play C, then A, followed by G, and ending with E.
After this, you’ll notice a bridge drop behind the piano with a new gate you can go through.
Once inside, take a right and head down the hallway.
You’ll spot Gloria being held in a cell, and while you can’t do anything to free her, you can take a picture for Tammy. Now we just need to get it back to her.
However, getting home is trickier than ever this time. You’ll need to wrap up the main job in Curdsville Nuthouse, then also get to the end of the next, extremely trippy section of the game.
Rewards
You will eventually, finally, make it back to the P.I. Office in one piece, so head back to Tammy and show her your photo.
As a reward, she’ll give you three more schematics to spend on additional weapon upgrades at the B.A.N.G. desk.
