Canada’s “Iceman” (Drake) recently spent a good month hyping up his claim to the title of Iceman, but these appear to be Caleb Williams’s days. In the penultimate season of his four-year, $39.48 million rookie contract, the Bears’ star showman will grace the cover of EA Sports’ Madden 27 — possibly inviting an ancient New Orleans grandma’s curse upon cover stars to his upcoming calendar year on the gridiron.
2024’s First overall pick out of the legendary QB program at USC has quickly become loved for his cold, calculated football IQ, mixed with a literal jumping spirit and swagger that make you want to love him… even if you can’t stomach cheering on Chicago. Face it, we all wouldn’t be opposed to Williams leading the Bears to his Jalen Hurts comeback arc. While your girlfriend and your mom love to cheer him on because he understands art, and paints his nails for Game Day.
Williams is the first Bears player to grace the Madden Covers and the first number-one overall QB pick since the Atlanta Falcons’ controversial captain, Michael Vick, back in 2004.
After a fair five-win rookie outing in 2024, Williams froze us all last year, leading the Bears to 11 wins, carrying them from last to first in the NFC North since 2018, and even to an unreal Wildcard win against Green Bay — where he dismantled “The People’s Team” with an amazing jump throw that will grace the Standard Edition cover. In a true celebration, William’s iconic Iceman celebration will grace the Deluxe Edition cover.
“When I received the call from Madden, it was like my childhood dream was coming true. Being on the cover of Madden NFL 27 is a full-circle moment,” Williams told ESPN. He boasted that this is the season that he joins the game’s coveted 99 Club. “I grew up playing Madden and imagining what it would be like to be part of the game. I know fans are going to love what’s new in this year’s game, and I’m looking forward to getting my rating up to a 99 by the end of the season.”
Madden 27 is out August 13, 2026. Tune in to a fan event titled “Opening Drive” in Chicago tomorrow night (June 4), at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT.
